Spirit-R Type A Recaro Seats

does anyone know for sure how it can move UP/DOWN?

Why not ask the vendor???

Why not ask Bryan (rx7boutique)? They should tilt if they have the tilt rails...

Supernaut 01-05-10 01:00 PM

They tilt. I think thats what he meant. They move up and down and you can tilt them (in a rocking chair motion) back and forth. THEY ARE TERRIFIC. I was surprised by how comfortable they were. Everyone who sat in them loved them.

tnn 01-05-10 01:13 PM

great. thanks. but not great for me. I got the seats not from Bryan and I think it's on a stock rails which won't do up/down :-(

GoodfellaFD3S 01-05-10 01:16 PM

They don't all come with the tilt rails.....

i LOOOVE my Spirit R Recaros. Lightweight, look amazing, comfortable, bolt right in, oem safety standards.

Hell, Mr Ihor Huk (all 245 pounds of him) fit in them on the trip down to DGRR back in 2007 after I picked them up from Ramy/FDNewbie :)

tnn 01-05-10 01:26 PM

I'm a short guy. I need the seat to move a bit up. tilt would be nice too. where do I get the right rails? :-D

yes they are nice and comfortable but hard to get in/out

Supernaut 01-05-10 01:33 PM

The right rails are very hard to find and expensive to boot. Ask Bryan for them. You can't raise them up that much higher or else they will hit the top. I read that the stock rails would provide the most height. Have you tried sitting on books or something? How tall are you?

Yes, TILT IS AWESOME.

Looks awesome, def on my "to buy this year" list :D

FD3S2005 01-05-10 02:59 PM

i want a set now... how much are they again, remind me so i can go cry in a corner.

GoodfellaFD3S 01-05-10 03:51 PM

Around $3000 I think for the pair? I got a screaming deal from Ramy. Did I mention the seats themselves (w/out rails) only weigh around 10 kg :)?

stubba 01-05-10 04:02 PM

The tilt rails for the Mazda Recaros are virtually impossible to find. They are approx $1200 each from the dealer but show backorder status. My seats came from Ramy with two USDM passenger rails.

Wow, $1,200 each just for rails!! Makes me feel a little better knowing that I have tilt rails... never knew how rare they were.

tnn 01-05-10 04:28 PM

yeah that's ridiculous price for just the rails. hmm maybe I just put some books make it higher and call for the day. :-D

rx7rcer09 01-05-10 04:50 PM

these seats are on my want to buy list. hmmm seats or wheels, gotta pick.

N3philum 01-05-10 06:07 PM

I just went to Mazda and priced a pass and drivers side rail. The pass side (from a RHD perspective) is just under 115000 yen (about 1250) and the drivers side is about 150 bucks more than that. Mazda had no problem placing the order for me if I wanted it right then and said it was about a 10 day lead time on the order. I will forgo the tilt feature and buy some 50 dollar used rails. Tilt doesnt mean that much to me. I have a pair of the seats right now sitting in my closet. Unfortunatly, no one is willing to buy them without rails. The price would double, if I were to sell them, if I bought the rails from Mazda. So, I will find a pass side rail without the tilt and install that one in my car and turn the other into a Forza 3 gaming seat.

I will go into the garage and just sit in mine. They could make lounge chairs out of them. And N3philum, you made me laugh about turning your other seat into a Forza 3 gaming seat. That is what I did with my original passenger side seat after I got my Recaros. My virtual RX-7:

I hate all of you!

I remember when I was with Bryan I sat in some RZ's and the tilt function is sweet. It's up front on the rail.

I'm 5'5 and weigh 140 and I fit perfect in them. Almost like it was a match made in heaven. I really want some of these seats.

dhahlen 01-05-10 09:19 PM

No luck for me fitting in these things, 6'3", 245, and broad

I barely fit in the rx7, lol

I've been thinking of finding another recaro that may fit, but i haven't had time to measure to start looking for other seats

Gordon

Your seats rock Gordon. Man I havent seen you post for a while where have you been?

purerx7 01-05-10 10:16 PM

By up and down I meant the tilt function, it is a very cool feature. Now, I could be wrong on this but I am only speaking from experience:

ALL recaro rz/spirit r seats I have seen come with the tilt function. Now, recaro made the exact same seat for the Miata /NB in Japan and those did not come with the tilt function and I *believe* those drop into the FD as well. So, for those who have the recaro seats without the tilt function, those may actually just be Miata recaro's being pawned off as rz/spirit-r seats. Not 100% on this, just speaking from what I have seen.

tnn 01-05-10 11:17 PM

hey Bryan

I looked at the pictures you sent me last time: yes the rails are different. I don't have the middle handle to adjust tilt. I'm pretty sure mine are from Spirit-R. The guy I bought from told me he got it from FDNewbie. I don't know the story why mine are not on the right rails...

I don't think you have the spirit R rails. Just because you got seats and rails from Ramy, doesn't mean the rails are the OEM ones, unless he specified they were. You can't really assume anything.

sub9lulu 01-06-10 09:31 AM

thsoe seats are so $$$

yeah I said I didn't think I have the right rails. I didn't get seats from Ramy. the guy I bought from got it from Ramy :-D. Ramy would be upset if I said I got from him. He did offered me a pair a few months back though...
