specification for the ppf?
Can anybody clear up what the shop manual is stating about the clearence on the power plant frame. 2.9 inch's from where? Im not sure if its the flat spot on the bar that mounts on each side of the body(tranny side of ppf) or somewhere else. Can someone please clear this up for me. I would like to make sure that the back of my tranny is not to high or low after I install it. thanks
Yeah I found that spec confusing too it took some fiddling around to figure out what they were talking about. I had put supports under my diff and motor before I disassembled so it made it more of a double check for me. Unfortunately for you I didn't take pictures, hopefully someone who has their car on a lift and ppf out can help.
If you are just reassembling the car, put the nuts in the wear circle that they were already in. that should make it trivial. But you can still measure to double check.
Look for the three lobed mounting location on the tunnel mount that is up near the end of the transmission there is a milled flat spot near that that is outlined by the picture in the manual (poorly I know). Place your straightedge on the flat surface and suspend the end out and under the PPF mounting location on the transmission. Use a jack under the transmission (or PPF) to position it so there is 2.96 inches (2.76"-3.03") clearance between the straightedge face that is pressed against the mount and the lower face of the PPF.
