Solenoid Testing

need to know the best way to test the solenoids under the rats nest. any ideas on quick ways to do this and anything i should be watchful for???

i do not have any metering tools handy, just basic tools for removal and a battery. just need to know which leads for + and ground.

Some of the solenoids can be tested as follows:

Remove the solenoid. Try to blow air thru it. With most, you should not be able to do this. Connect one end of the solenoid electrical connection to your battery positive terminal. Connect the other to ground. Now you should be able to blow thru it.

Be carefull that you do not shock yourself, or touch the positive wire to the ground wire.

is there a specific side (terminal) to connect posative or gnd to on the solenoid?

I'm not positive (joke), but I don't think it makes any difference.
