What shift knob should I use?
Hi, Im currently undergoing my auto>5speed and I dont have a shift knob but I did purchase my B&M short shifter. I'd like to find a good looking knob with good grip and stuff but I want one that screws to the B&M and not those chezzy 3 hallen bolts that never holds right kind of shifter.
What did you guys purchase and have any pics? Thanks |
the title of this just didn't look right
sorry...this is the best pic i have. will have more soon http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...S/DSC00149.jpg |

I do not like pistol grip, metal, cylinder, or fancy knobs. I like a smooth comfortable grip of round wood.
Mine is from a Miata site and has a threaded metal insert and is lead weighted. They also sell a nice transistion piece to cover the steel shifter and it goes down to the leather. Made from some imported wood. Best gear knob I had since my FB. |

Razo drift spec. 480 grams. With different sized inserts instead of lame allen bolts that fuck up the threads. I think it looks way cooler than the dull "ball type". |

look into voodoo shift knobs. i have one. its really nice aluminum and its also weighted.
www.teamvoodoo.com they make the knobs for miata and they are the same for fd's. |
Anyone have any pics of red-stitched knobs that look just like/close to the last few years of the JSpec model FD? If so, where'd you get it? Would like to pick one up along with red boots as shown above at: http://www.redlinegoods.com/FDshiftboot.shtm

smaller than stock but mounts at same height, requires boot to be tied higher, VERY light.

(carbon fiber momo raptor) Not actually mine of course, but identical to it. Lightest knob I have ever touched in my life. I love the grip of those too. |

looks like it's time to get a redline shift boot ;) Here is mine: https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...hmentid=176684 Team Voodoo Titanium. I love it, nice and weighted. Some of you guys are extolling the virtues of a light shift knob, but with my newly rebuilt/tight tranny and short shifter, I find a heavy knob leads to zero missed shifts. Also, the kind that threads on is the best kind without a doubt. I had a shitty momo knob with the small set screws and it loved to fly off during hard shifts at the strip. |
Here is the new link for the voodoo knobs, although they don't list the titanium:

Older pic...
http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j2...shiftknob2.jpg Newer pic http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j2...xshiftknob.jpg It's the Greddy/Grex shift knob. However, i'm going back to the stock shift knob (Thanks Fritz!!) when i get my car back from the shop. That one just gets waaaay to hot for me to handle and i'm not wearing a glove. |
