SEARCH it man. We just had like 4 threads about this in the last couple days

apexkw 10-22-02 04:46 PM

I DID!!!!!!!!!!

i did SEARCH it. no one said anything about the mazda speed one. i could only find info on the b&m.

Dragonz818 10-22-02 04:53 PM

Anybody know where to buy C's shifter?

dingleberry 10-22-02 08:57 PM

www.jt-imports.com has the C's and MS one..

Talk to Jason there..

apexkw 10-22-02 09:41 PM

his web site only says that he has the shift knob. also i wanted to know how people like it.

dingleberry 10-22-02 10:19 PM

I just went to his site it says short throw shifter

its doesnt say short throw shifter KNOB

Mr. Stock 10-22-02 10:39 PM

I have the Mazdaspeed short shifter.

First rate in quality.
The knob is larger and heavier than the stock one. The stock knob will not fit on the Mazdaspeed short shifter.
The shifts will be more "notchy" perhaps "crispier". The throws are maybe 1/3 shorter. Installation is easy to do - just requires taking the center console off and a few bolts, etc
I highly recommend it.

i don't know about the other brands.

the_glass_man 10-22-02 10:44 PM

I have the B&M one, and I love it!
The quailty is top notch, its the only shifter that replaces the stock base. The throws are short and crisp. The throw is shorter then the Mazdaspeeds and some of the others, the price is also hard to beat. The stock shifter knob fits on it as well. Takes about 15-20 minutes to install.

I just ordered the B&M shortshifter, i've herd it works the best. Don't listen to them about search. If they can type do a search then they can type a damn answer.

scratchjunkie 10-23-02 12:30 AM

i too am trying to find a shortshifter..so many choices..*sigh*

scratchjunkie 10-23-02 12:35 AM

to all you b&m guys.....what type of shift nobs are you guys running?

apexkw 10-23-02 12:45 AM

dingleberry
i just went there again and it says mazdaspeed shifter...but then when you look to the side it only says
shift knob 220.95

e-brake handle 175.95

Carbon fiber and aluminum shift knob and brake handle. These are the new ones that just came out in March 02`

all this is below the mazdaspeed carbon fiber mirror.
so YES i have been to his site. and no i have not seen the short throw shifter kit. so unless i am really blind then i dont think it is there. is it listed under something else besides mazdaspeed? does anybody know how much the mazdaspeed and the c's short throw shifter reduces the stroke. i believe the b&m reduces 30% correct me if i am wrong. thanks for the fast replies

Since the Mazdaspeed short shifter kit includes the shift knob, that probably is the price for the short shifter kit rather than just for the knob. I vaguely remember paying about $250 for it so the price is on target.

In any case, why don't you just e-mail JT-Imports.

racer rx 10-23-02 02:15 AM

I have the mazdaspeed... The stock knob does fit, however I added the Nardi Miata knob... I found it more comfortable.

I had the c's but found it to be notchy and would not let me get into reverse when the tranny was hot.

Heard good things about the B & M...

My fault man, I thought you were talking about C`s.

He can get the MS shifter I sure just e-mail him at info@jt-imports.com

dingleberry 10-23-02 03:52 AM

Racer RX,
I have heard about your problem about not getting into reverse when the tranny is hot and it has ABSOLUTLY NOTHING to do with the shifter. I have heard of this back when I want in Japan. I have never heard of it happening with the FC, just the FD. My old mech there had it happen once or twice and when the engine came out he checked the whole tranny and found nothing wrong, and he has no short shifter.

dingleberry 10-23-02 03:57 AM

OOps also forgot to say Jason at www.jt-imports.com uses the C`s shifter and says its very comfortable, good, not ratchy and he is PICKY! and cheaper then all of them, well at least he can get it cheaper then the rest...

7-sins 10-23-02 05:21 AM

I wasn't big on the Mazdaspeed, I though it was too smooth almost like a stock shifter. The throw only knocked down by what 35% if that? I got in a car with the Pettit shifter and I thought that was a lot better. Kinda a notchy feel but good, it felt really racey. The Pettit also shortens the throw by 50% which is crazy, I love it!! The B&M isn't very high quality from what I have heard and I tried searching for C's but it wont search for under 3 letters.

MichRX7 10-23-02 06:31 AM

I have the B&M shifter with the B&M knob...

I love it, and will never ever bother putting a different brand in my Rx-7.

jspecracer7 10-23-02 08:53 AM

B&M...love it. A bit notchy, but you get used to it. I use a razo 400g shift knob.

Dragon's got the C's. PM him with any questions about it.

apexkw 10-23-02 09:24 AM

i emailed jasona day or so ago, but he has yet to respond. hmmmmm so many choices. i want the mazdaspeed but it seems to be hard to get ahold of. . i can get the b&m for $185. is that a good price? also i noticed the b&m replaces the whole assembly"big box thing it sits on", does it really matter? the C's and mazda speed dont do that.

apexkw 10-23-02 09:24 AM

sorry double post

Flybye 10-23-02 09:58 AM

I've had the Pettit one for about 3 years now. I Love it :) The stock shifter feels like a mac truck compared to this. I can actually shfit gears with just the touch of my finger.
