shifter problem

I am having a slight problem with my shifter, it doens't happen all the time but every once and a while it will do it. It usually happens when i shift to neutral when sitting at a light and then try to shift to 1st. Sometimes (not usually but sometimes) it will refuse to shift into any gear. Then if i pump the clutch pedal a few times and then try to shift it will work. Any ideas what the problem could be. Thanks for any help.

hi mirror, how are you today? im good cause we're having the same problem..

i know exactly how you feel bro, usually if i dont drive my car for like 2 days, when i start it up to go to work, it drives fine..ok whatever, then after like a long drive, maybe 45 min or more, if i sit at a light, when i try to put it into first, i get blocked, or any gear for that matter.. the only gear that would let me go in but barely is 5th, then i have to work my way to 1st..the only way i can survive on the road with this problem is if i want til i get to about 5mph, then i put it into 1st and hold it there til its time to move again..

im assuming its the pilot bearing but idk..

im open for suggestions too

Mine does the exact same thing but its only done it a few times, i just pump the clutch or let the car move forward just a lil on it on and then try and put it in gear and it goes fine. What gets me though is my tranny was rebuilt 500-700 miles ago.

if you have to pump it, there is air in the system. u have a bad master, slave, or line.

Mabe it's the Line between the master and the slave cylinder.

I was having similar issues - but the tranny was fried anyway. Replaced tranny, clutch master & slave - we'll see what happens

When this happened on my friend's Miata, it was the slave cylinder. Similar if not same system on the FD so I'd surmise that its the slave cylinder.

Oh, and try using the search. Keywords like "clutch bleed" should do it.

Between these two, you shouldn't need much help from us.

Yeah, there is most definitely a leak somewhere. I didn't notice before but the brake fluid is below the minimum line. Now i have no feeling in my clutch pedal at all, and i am not able to take it anywhere untill i can get some more fluid. Hopefully then i will be able to drive it a little bit till i can fix once i get the parts. Think i am just going to replace the master, slave and line just to be sure.
