Security. Car won't turn over after removing parts.

I am restoring my 93. I have removed all the interior ie:dash, seats etc. Also have removed bumpers door handles fenders hatch etc. Steering column and switch is still in. The car won't turn over or even kick the fuel pump on. A beep comes from inside the cabin after a few seconds so I'm guessing a security function is enabled. What needs to be hooked up for it to run?

Quick guess would be the dash harness should be reconnected.

maybe?

Well I hooked up the power to the dash harness and pluged the guage cluster in. It will turn over but I haven't heard the fuel pump kick on. I got it started with ether but it wouldn't stay running. I don't think the fuel pump is turning on. When I got the car I'm pretty sure the fuel pump came on. but doesn't now since taking out a bunch of stuff. Also forgot to mention I removed the cruise control. When it did turn over though it appears that it shot about a half quart of oil from the oil filter and it seems the thermostat housing is leaking just a bit of coolant. I tightned up the filter and haven't noticed anymore oil leaking. There wasn't any water in the oil so I guess that's a good thing. I checked the fuses and they are good. Any ideas?

Forgot to mention it is still beeping after a few seconds of turning the key on.

That could be low coolant alarm.

MazdaSpeedDan 07-24-12 01:54 PM

Or the airbag sensor, it beeps 4-5 times.

Sm1nts2escape 07-24-12 02:50 PM

I'm gonna guess airbag sensor then. The coolant was full just dripping. I'm gonna pull the fuel filter and see if it will pump then.

MazdaSpeedDan 07-24-12 03:18 PM

Ok let me ask you this, are you running a stock ECU or a PowerFC? Double check all your grounds/fuses. Also if it was the coolant im sure it would constantly beep whereas when the airbag goes off its doing its checks and if its ok it beeps to let you know and the airbag light stays on for 5 seconds.

Edit- I dont think its the Click Click issue.
Edit- I also forgot to ask if its a Manual or Automatic.

Sm1nts2escape 07-24-12 06:20 PM

It's a manual. Stock ecu. After I plugged the dash in it would turn over. But Im 90% sure the fuel pump isn't kicking on.

What happens when you ground out the fuel pump relay terminal in the diagnostic port? You should hear the pump run when you turn on the key.

Sm1nts2escape 07-25-12 10:47 AM

I seen that in the manual after i packed everything up. Im gonna give it a go after replacing the filter. Thanks guys

Ok so I jumped the wires for the fuel pump as shown in the manual. I can hear a relay click right next to the diagnostic connector but the fuel pump isn't turning on. I need to get a meter and check it. But more than likely the fuel pump siezed from sitting so long. Thanks guys.
