Swat, looks like I fixed the lighting issue. It's REAL EASY to do. I went to a junk yard to see if I could find a 7. Well there was no chance of that BUT there was a 94 mazda 626 that was just waiting to be fondled. My thinking was that rotory stalks are but one item in a line of parts shared from Mazda to Mazda. I was able to disassemble the steering column, remove the steering wheel (just got to beat on it a little) and follow the wiring attached to the stalk to the bottom of the column where you'll find the wiring harness. If you cut the wires at the harness, you'll have more than enough to make up any slack issues of the orignal wire cluster on the 7. The whole fix cost 5 bucks! And I almost purchased a brand new stalk unit for $300! If you need more indepth info on how to do this, let me know.

wow! much appreciated! I will take a look on the stalk like noted and check out the junk yard to find me a new switch. Wasn't it difficult to take the steering wheel off?
