thought you had a single. My thoughts were wrong. you driving that thing now? I'd rather build the car to be responsive and have a more progressive powerband. Single turbos are fun, but I don't like how the power comes on like a off/on switch. Maybe if I was still street racing I'd go for bigger power but I don't do that very much anymore. That and unless you're making 500+whp you're wasting your time. |

Reviving thread!
Howard, do you have any suggestions for those of us with stock twins or BNRs? Are there any turbo blankets that would fit? |
Great thread! I had no idea this was happening. Thanks so much Howard.

Is it pretty bad if the turbo blanket touches the lim? I have a t04r and it sits very close to the lim, I squeezed on a turbo blanket but I'm worried about it cause it is like smashed inbetween the turbo and lim, although the lim does have some really good high temp heat reflective tape on it. The cheap turbo blanket seems to hold in the radiant heat good, unlike the cheap exhaust wrap on the downpipe and exhaust manifold, I need to use the dei titanium wrap from my stock turbos down pipe which worked better I think. I also want to get a pettit heat shield, cheap and effective. Good thread. thanks

Can you discuss the differences between the cerama-chrome and cerama-black coating I've seen from your shop? Really love the chrome look but realize it is likely more expensive. Curious if it is equally effective.

I'd recommend using all the OEM heat shields. Typically at IRP cars leaving with twins get the exhaust manifold, LIM and heat shields coated in 3600 degree cerama-black. The downpipe gets wrapped in the new DEI titanium lavarock wrap. This is for cars seeing track duty, and/or if the owner is concerned about heat management.
|
^The cerama-black has a higher heat rating than the chrome.

As I believe it generally jives with the purpose of this thread, where does IRP send out for their coating and what is the price generally, for a LIM, downpipe, UIM, etc. to be coated? (both cerama-black and cerama-chrome)
