RX-8 engine

Hello

I work for a company that designs and builds electric vehicles. We are looking into buying a new RX-8 and converting it. This would leave us with a new engine sitting around which may be useful to an RX-7 owner looking for a fun project. Would anyone be interested in such an engine? What would you be willing to pay for such an engine?

Thanks

Perhaps this would be of more interest to rx8club.com? Just saying. Thank you for the consideration however! =)

You might find someone in the 2nd generation section, or post in the classifieds. The 3rd generation Rx-7 never came with a non turbo engine. An Rx-8 engine was never engineered for a turbo so you won't find much demand in these circles.

Agreed...

Posting in the 1st Generation Section would also be useful.

I have seen a few swaps over there. Lighter chassis & more probable. You'll find nothing but turbo junkies over here.

We are just in the initial planning stages of a street legal electric conversion. We want to go with a new car and the RX-8 seems like a good platform. We are planning on putting a powerful drive train in that will be very fast and have a decent range. Our company focuses on electric mining vehicles right now but we are hoping to branch out into street vehicles, the RX-8 would be our first sexy car (we have a few little electric trucks). Our mining vehicle is very fast and can easily burn rubber on dry pavement so we had to limit the current to 50% so as to avoid miners crashing it. We then realized that electric drive trains are appropriate for sports cars, hence the RX-8 project.
