REW rotor question

i bought a jdm REW(big mistake). and im taking all this apart and start cleaning the rotors and see that they are different?! im thinking jdm sent me two different kinds of rotors. altho does the REW have two different looking rotors?

Perhaps you'd like to tell us exactly how they're different? Different finishes (one smooth, one has thin ridges) perhaps?

pics?

How can they be 'different'?

djseven 03-10-09 08:56 PM

Could be rotors from different generations. Could have one s5TII rotor and one s6 rotor. Same compression and weight but look slightly different.

Could be totally different weights and compression. I tore down a reman a couple weeks back with one housing having a noticeable exhaust port and the other side being a stock housing  Gotta love it.

You probably need to resize the pics first, that is likely why they are not loading.

bajaman 03-15-09 11:56 AM

if you want, e-mail them to me and I will post them up.

20BTTwannaBE 03-16-09 02:22 PM

that would be awesome thanks man. if you could pm what email you want me to send them to, that would be great.

Those marks are simply material that's removed so that the rotors are balanced to a specific weight.

MOBEONER 03-19-09 08:05 PM

most of the engines i have taken apart do not have identical rotors.some have swirls that are used to take off weight some don't.remember that when they pour the raw material into the rotors they are all different in weight, some are heavier than others due to air caught in the material and so forth.thats why they shave holes in the rotors to make sure they have the right balance.

does shaving them down cause any troubles?

no, it is just balancing the engine so it does not vibrate alot. it is very common to see this. dont worry...

88verttop 03-19-09 08:35 PM

even when i 88 vert broke down it didnt vibrate but it cracked something or blew a hole out of the water jacket i havnt torn into it yet but i will soon anything i should be looking for when i tear it apart
