Reverse light

A new transmission was put into my car when I bought it, but when I shift into reverse, the reverse lights do not turn on. While reading the owners manual, I read that you are not supposed to install the back up light switch until after the transmission is in. My guess is that they forgot. My question is, how do I get to this switch, and how do I connect/fix it so that my reverse lights come on?

It screws in to the side of the trans, near the top. if it is not there you would have a leak, may be it is not plugged in good ( the wire connecter ).It is on the left side in front of the shifter. if Garfinkle remembers correctly.

Here's what the switch looks like make sure it is plugged in but also look at the wires where they enter the switch they are easy to break off. If one is broken off flush with the connector just fix it, you don't need to buy a new one. The black molded cover at the back of the switch will crack right off with a small chisle. You can then just resolder the wires to the terminals. I then took 2 part epoxy and made a good size batch, fashioned a little cup around the back of the terminal with wax paper and filled up the cup with the epoxy. After it dries just peel the way paper away or just trim it back.

i know this is an old post. but i am having slight problems with the reverse lights. i have checked the fuse and the bulbs and they have been replaced. so it has to be the switch as forementioned. problem is what is the best way to reach and check the switch? the drivers side, pass. side or the top? also because there are atleast 3 harnesses down there, what color wires am i looking for? and how many wires? any help would be much appreciated.
