Replacement battery for the Pettit Racing relocation kit?

I bought the Pettit battery relocation kit a while back but the battery that comes with it has been nothing but trouble. I want to upgrade it to a higher specced one, but my mechanic is having a hard time finding one that'll fit in the relocated battery box. Has anyone bought this kit and found a suitable replacement battery for it?

http://www.pettitracing.com/rx7/index_electrical.htm

The link probably won't be any help since it lacks dimensions (or any information, really.)

well what kinda trouble are you getting into? maybe they sent you a bad battery or acid level is low.

how about you tell us the dimension of the box so we can find a battery for you.

My local Interstate Battery store has the same batteries in stock. I don't know if you west coasters have "Interstate" but pretty much any dedicated battery store will be able to find something. Don't go to Walmart or Advance/Autozone. Go to an actual battery retailer.

The battery in my kit actually came shipped in a re-labelled interstate box.

The Odyssey PC1200 fits perfectly in the Pettit battery tray, with no extra space. It is likely the largest/most powerful battery that will fit in the tray.

I think the Odessy is the right battery for both the engine bay or the bin. I just bought the optima like a dope but it gets the job done. I wasn't patient enough to order an Odessy. Ihor was saying the deep cycle batteries actually wear on your alternator more. I believe it.

According to the supplier of parts for my high output alternators, deep cycle batteries tend to take longer to recharge, and therefore are hard on alternators. They are really meant to run electrical equipment, then be put on a charger and recharged. They aren't really intended to run a car on even though some people do. A deep cycle battery can be completely drained and it will usually come back by proper recharging. This isn't something that is needed for a car. If you don't drive it put it on a trickle charger. That being said, most cars that I have had an alternator fail prematurely have had a deep cycle or undersized battery.

Cool

Wow, had not checked the battery relocation kit from Pettit, but that is one way overpriced kit.

Get the Miata battery, it fits perfectly in the storage bin and it cost a 1/3 of that kit.
A little more weight, but unless you are racing at the professional level, then is negligible.
