Replace that old ignition switch!!
 

So over the 10+ years of ownership I have always had issues with the original ignition switch. I think I have replaced it at least 2 times with aftermarket switches that never seem to last. I've also resorted to cleaning the factory switch once or twice since the $160+ price tag for the OEM one was always a turn off....but recently I bought one online and for half price I received a factory sealed brand new Mazda part.

Just thought I'd share the info to save you guys some money. The entire electrical system on my car also seems to have stepped it's game up since I installed the new one. These things just fade slowly over time and I think anyone rocking an original switch might benefit from preemptively changing it out.

Is this something you'd recommend doing even if the current ignition switch it working? I've never replaced it yet but my car has 140k

Then don't until is dead or starts acting up.
Makes you feel good buy and save it for later, if you are for sure keeping your car for life.

does this solve the click click no start issue?

if all your grounds, clutch switch, immobilizer relay, and starter check out then it definitely can.

These switches have dropped even more in price and can now be ordered directly from a Mazda dealer for $37 or so. Part number is FD01-66-151A.

They are pretty easy to remove. Just remove the steering column covers and the switch will be visible on the left. It is attached to the ignition assembly with a single silver-coloured screw. With a right angle screwdriver this screw can be quickly removed. The switch will slide out and its electrical connector can then be unclipped.
