removing stock ignition amp

I'm trying to clean up my engine bay some and organize wires better and was looking at my stock ignition amp on the drivers side. I was wondering if I could remove it completely since I'm using an HKS twin power?

You may want to read the FSM and study up on the FD engine bay components :)

There is no oem ignition amp..... if you mean the ignitor, your car will not run without it. The twinpower is not a replacement.

On this older style of ignition system, you have a separate ignitor box. It's basically heavy duty switching electronics that controls the coils based on signals from the ECU. You can't get rid of that box.

On newer ignition systems (like the Rx-8 for example) you have an integrated individual coil + ignitor for each channel.

unless you have a standalone, one besides a PFC with ignitors built in.

a little basics: the ECU controls the ignitor with a basic circuit, the ignitor controls upper level voltage control. the ignition amp takes the ingitor signal and raises the voltage yet again and in some cases divides the excess voltage up into smaller bits for multi spark at lower RPMs.\

a stock FD has no ignition amp, the ignitor is technically an amplifier but a rather weak one comparatively to CDI boxes.

Ok thanks for the info guys...as you can tell I'm not good with electonics or wiring...especially when it comes to identifying parts lol
