First time im seeing it.
I like the lines but i feel it still needs read headlights. Any specs on the setup? |

I'm trying to find more specs now.
I did see that it has an electric power steering setup...

I am guessing this is for the TAS2012?
|
absolutely stunning.
|
Wow.
I saw teasers of this build last week and I was waiting for more. Looks like a concept car. I guess we'll see what they do with the design in the future. |

I usually drool over just about everything RE makes but for some reason this new thing just doesn't do it for me. Its just too many different design directions to flow properly, interesting motor setup though.
|
I don\t like the front or the back, but the sides look incredible
|
Interesting design. I'm not sold on it but IMO it still looks a hell of a lot better than some other widebodies that are out there.
The wannabe porsche... I'm not sure why but I have always kinda liked the thing lol :) |
Those mirrors looks very sweet, if the distribution of the LEDs was better they would be perfect.
|
^ Agreed.
Additionally: It's a little reminiscent of the R8, which I don't hate at all. I also agree with the earlier comment about headlights. Some more finishing would help. Maybe something like a curved lens akin to the turn signal covers on the GTC bumper would flush it up nicely, I think. The "snout" is a little too sharp, in my opinion, but I'm still letting it grow on me. Generally, my first impression is that this is the first "dramatic" RE kit that I really like right off the bat. Price guess? 20K? |
.
|
I like it!
Also, if the following quote wasn't on purpose, it is one of the funniest unintentional troll posts I've seen in some time...and if it was on purpose...still funny. if the distribution of the LEDs was better they would be perfect. |

The original prototype for the FD had a similar headlight design. I think RE-Amemiya was just re-creating it with the "wannabe porsche" style. My x gf has my Rx-7 book still otherwise I'd post a picture haha. |
saw these at 3am this morning (saw from pics) when they were still setting up the booths, not feeling it though, afflux v is my favorite as of date.

Thanks for the info, given that little piece of knowledge it makes sense why RE-A did that. Now I'm gonna have to search for a pic as it is going to drive me nuts now. |
I have my book at home. I'll scan the pics tonight if I remember.
|

The vents in back of the front wheels and in front of the rear wheels seem tacked on and don't really match any other angles on the car. The front is particularly ugly and like others said lacks finish to the headlights. The rear just looks way too bulky.
I dunno, it just doesn't do it for me like like the wide body on Scoot's four rotor FD or any of Feed's wide bodies or even the R-Magic one. |

I usually don't like their cars and designs but this one is totally different. Looks like something Mazda should display as a prototype for the new gen rx7s lololol.
|
The front screams R8 to me.

The CF RE-A FD was at TAS 2008 too. Here are some pics I have of it. It looks like they just went a little bit further with the modifications for the new NA7 from the silver one from 2008 as well. hmmm.

NA7, good idea, bad execution; it is lacking finesse. The sides are nice but the front and rear are not tidy. It could've looked hot if they spent more time on headlight area.
Imo the best aftermarket front design is Tamon/Scoot V2. So tidy almost looks oem. |
Im surprised they used Greddy airinx filters considering they make filters/intakes.
then again there looks to be a bunch of other A/M stuff on there aswell that isn't RE-A. |

It's hard to hate on RE. I think it looks great from the side. If they made a kit that had that llok with the option of stock front and rear ends that would be cool.
|
The engine bay on that CF FD with the Porsche style headlights is absolutely retarded
I agree that the NA7 looks great in the side profile, front/rear not so much. |

More pics, from SpeedHunters...
I think the car actually looks pretty good in this pic: https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...1&d=1326646769 https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...1&d=1326646769 Couple more from RE Extreme: There are also a TON of pics here: http://re-xtreme.blogspot.com/2012/0...uper-na-7.html https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...1&d=1326646938 https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...1&d=1326646938 Not so sure about this...wtf? https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...1&d=1326647250 Headlight/combos detail: https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...1&d=1326647250 |

Looks like a riley prototype, r8, lsf all in one.
I applaud RE for their imagination and their pristine builds. |
any vids of their section? :o
and i like the modern look of it |
They took 1st place this year, too!
|
the rear end is VERY similarly shaped to an Aventador's rear end

I really like it.
But, (there's always a but) the interior really lets it down. A simple black interior would have looked so much better. If you want to get fancy, flock it. The exterior to me looks great! |
like: front + side
no like: rear |
Looks good from the side, that's it. The front has no identity w/o real headlights, and the rear is minimalist to the point of looking lazy. Its a good start.

the front reminds me a little of the scream mask: http://scream-movie.net/Computer_Stu...stface_640.jpg |

After seeing that, that thing is sexy
|
Im just happy to see they are sticking with the fd chassis after these years, very artistic, new aero and styling all the time its great in an era where you dont see new custom fd's at auto shows. Almost 20 and still turning heads!!!

I give them credit for really trying something. My big nit-picks would be that the front could use some finesse... those big huge openings look like they'd produce a ton of drag, and without turbo cooling to accomplish, don't seem necessary for anything. Just a little over-simple and ham-handed. The rear is interesting... it's sort of carved out like an old Shelby Daytona Coupe, only more so... I'd have liked it a lot more if a set of FD tail lights, or something very reminiscent of them, were tucked underneath that upper lip.
It's certainly not the worst thing I've seen by any stretch. |
Oh yeah, that interior is HORRENDOUS. Looks like they spend about 10 minutes on it with vinyl spray paint and a Grannt steering wheel from Advance Auto.
