Quick Solenoid question
Hi, I need to cap the wastegate solenoid and the pre control actuator solenoid.
1) Just to confirm, they are both located between the vacuum chamber right under the UIM, Right? 2) There are 2 lines into each and I only need to cap one line, which I believe is the one at the top on each of the solenoid, right? Any confirmation/correction would be greatly appreciated. I searched and what I wrote is what I can make up from the vacuum diagram. Thank you, Giovanni |
Why are you capping them?

Come on boys, nobody with an answer?
I just need confirmation, I am pretty sure those are the ones, but I want to double-check |
You shouldn't mess with the precontrol solenoid. Only cap the wastegate control.

I used version sweet, which is a simplified version2. and in my case, the out on the wastegate goes to the "in" of the precontrol and the "out" of the precontrol is capped. So, in version 2 and sweet you end up with 2 solenoids that are both "un-plumbed", hence the need to cap both. My original question, however, was whether or not the solenoids I described are those in need to be capped. I am sad that nobody can clarify that for me... Anybody? Once again, I am quite sure the solenoids to cap are the two paired up right at the front of the UIM, under it and right behind the vacuum tank. Are these 2 solenoids the wastegate and precontrol solenoid? Also, are the "in" lines coming from wastegate and precontrol the lines at the top (on the solenoids)? This seems to be the case from the diagram, I would just like to have confirmation, if anybody can help me with this. Please, somebody give me a hand with this... |
where are you getting this information?

There are also diagrams on this matter for version 1, version 2 and version sweet that I looked at. Ihave some saved but the links are at home and I am on my iPhone, I can post later. Basically what I read is that using version 1 has some problems with temperature changes and with the secondary turbo coming online (controlling boost). I read that version 2 users are all happy and reported no problems with boost at any outside temperatures, boost holds right at what you want and the transition is not quite as abrupt as the setup might suggest. Version sweet is just a simpler version of version 2, but basically exact same concept and outcome. Nobody still has anwered my questions, however... |

It is not fully clear what you are asking, but if a solenoid is unused you should cap all of its barbs. |

Version 'sweet'? Are you just making these terms up?
It is not fully clear what you are asking, but if a solenoid is unused you should cap all of its barbs. All I asked as which are the solenoids that are attached to the wastegate and the precontrol. Can anybody tell me? For the rest of what I said, the search button is your friend if don't believe me, that's all I can say. |

If you don't mind, is the line "in" from the wastegate and precontrol the top nipple in both? I checked the vacuum diagram and it looks like that's the way it is... Thanks again. |

Here are the links to the threads where I got the information and terminology (version 1, version 2 and so on)
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...roller+install https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-gen-archives-73/my-boost-control-setup-perfect-10-8-10-pattern-178136/ https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...hmentid=168952 https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ight=version+2 I just got home. I am sure there is more information on this matter than what I was able to gather, however, after I went through these threads (and a few more I didn't bookmark), I felt I knew enough to go ahead and do my job. As anyone can see from both version 2 and version sweet, both the "out" lines from wastegate and precontrol are separated from the respective solenoids. Which means that the solenoids have to be capped. That's why I need to cap them and I wanted confirmation of whether or not those I described were the ones I needed to plug. |
