a quick question for the rotary gurus

So my car started acting a little funny the other day. I was driving home from work and got stuck in bumper to bumper traffic  . I am sitting there and all of the sudden the idle drops to 500, vac drops to 12. Before that point my idle always runs strong at 1000rpm with a vac reading of 18/19. When it did this I gave it a little gas to see if would catch itself and it did. The idle goes back up to 1000. I drive a little more with no problem and then it does it again. I repeat what I did before and again it recovers. In all it did it a total of 3 times. But only while I was sitting in traffic. Any ideas? I think it's the timing but that was adjusted last summer. A little background on the car: original engine & turbos with 59,250 miles, oil changed every 2k miles, plugs changed 2k miles ago, its winter here so I drive the car maybe once a week, mods are in sig. Any suggestions would be wonderful.

1000rpm seems a bit high... rotary engines dont tend to idle that high did you have the aircon on? sometimes this can drop the revs alot

The car is not supposed to idle at 1000 rpm. If it drops to 500, thats a little low, but nothing to worry about unless the idle is rough, or the engine dies.

thanks for the input. Should I drop the idle back down to 800?

it sounds that when the fans kick in (b/c you were at idle), your idle drops. It might be an electrical load problem...
