quick question about flooding?
MY dad moved my car in the driveway on monday and i havent tried to start it until today. now it wont start, it cranks but it wont start. Is it flooded? knowing my dad he probably turned my car (cold start) on monday and just moved it and turned it off.

also, on
http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/s...g_flooded.html what does it mean turn the motor over with the plugs out? |
Take the plugs out, push the gaspedal all the way down and try and crank the car. Be sure you've got the gas pedal all the way down!
|
is it bad on the starter (i have an auto) to crank it for 15secs straight?
|
No, But I'm not sure if the pedal to the metal trick works on auto's or not. I think you have you remove your EGI fuse to prevent cranking.

I was in the same situation 2 months ago. It ended up being the MAP sensor vacuum hose. Give that a check.

thanks...i just did the hold the gas pedal down + crank, and just crank and repeated that till it unflooded.
however no smoke came out. when i read the other threads about flooded they mentioned a lot of smoke coming out. |
happened the first week i got my fd, it was a bit cold that day, prob around 40 and i started the car, i had to move the car right away cause the oil people for my house came for delivery and so i tried to rush and i stalled.. the car only ran for like 20 seconds prior to that stall and i tried to crank it again, it didnt want so i had to push with one foot out and myself halfway in the car trying to move the car out of the way..
about an hour later, i removed the plugs and it was gassed up, not that much but enough to prob cause the car not to start, i did the unflooding procedure and voila, one try and it started.. i think since the car runs rich at startup could be the cause of why you cant run the car short, then shut it off.. |
i had that problem it was the shitty battery. no power even on full charge
|
Okay, i tried to start my car again now and having the same trouble starting up again. Could it still be flooded. i didnt remove the plugs and clean them off when i unflooded my car. could this be the issue?
How would i know if the battery is weak? (besides taking it to the shop and having them measure it) It cranks but it doesnt start up |
get a dmm (digital mulitmeter) and test the batter first when the car is off, should read 12.6 volts, thats normal..if you dont want to spend for the meter, take out your battery and bring it to like pep boys or something and have them test it and charge it if it needs it..
