Quick Question

Just changed my plug wires and plugs (removing my TB) and after starting it up it now idles at 1600 rpms +- 100 RPM's.

My question is. Can I simply modify the idle adjustment screw or should I try to source the change? I can't think of any reason why it would be different (didn't have any screws remaining when finished ) .

Appreciate the help!

I'm thinking something isn't right. What was your idle before you changed the wires? Maybe you knocked loose your brake booster hose or somthing. Can you hear a whooshing sound when you have boost? Also, the idle bleed screw is not going to change your idle an entire 800rpms. You can also adjust your idle be adjusting the throttle cable.

Hmm brake booster hose. Don't know what it is, nor why it would mess with my idle, but it I suppose it is connected to the master cylinder?

sorry for the stupid question but since you removed the TB did you check the throttle cable? maybe its too tight.

I did, there is enough play that if I move the cable 1/8 of an inch the throttle body doesn't even move.

I'm so new to this car that it may be normal when warming up - I just don't know... I haven't left it on for more than a couple of minutes for fear that something may be amiss.

the car does have an AWS, "Accelerated Warm-Up System" that will raise the idle until it is fully warmed up, or atleast to the point where you can get on the throttle without breaking anything. let it run till the temp gauge gets to the middle and then if you're still high start looking for other things.

any mods? good news on not having 'spare parts' afterwards. always good for a warm fuzzy feeling

I'll check it out. It may be my paranoia - easy to do when reading this site - jeez.

I did like not having any extra parts - very satisfying. Odd thing is that the TB has 3 or so threaded holes in them that made me wonder what they were used for.
