Question on Midpipe install. Is this normal?

I have just completed the install of my midpipe. I have all the necessary computer upgrades etc. The car still even runs a little rich at full boost.

My question is this: When I run WOT and let off I get a backfire almost every time. Now, I did anticipate this but I am also getting some white smoke for a second or two. Is this normal? I did not have this smoke until the midpipe was installed. I have no smoke on start up or any other time.

Anyone have an answer?

Thanks

The smoke probably happened before you had the midpipe installed; the cat just trapped it... I'm really not sure though, cause thats just a guess

yeah, it's common to see an increase in backfiring when you remove the main cat. the only real way to get rid of it is with a new computer than you can program (PFC, AEM, etc...) -

it is also normal to see that bit of smoke when starting up now. mine does the same thing (smoke) just for a few seconds after the first start of the day. it's just the oil in the chamber.

Yep, left over petro from when you cut the engine. What color was that smoke you're getting after a good WOT again?

It's white and it only happens after WOT for 2 seconds. Not on start up or any other time.

Thanks

its probably one of several things I think. Its because its a new midpipe and it may do this for a little bit since its brand new just like a new exhaust on a car. Or, its just that after WOT its burning off some extra oil that was left over from WOT. It could also be a possible O-ring seal problem, but then again it doesn't happen on start up and you have no coolant issues. Hmmmmmm.

For anyone who cares, I talked with Rotary Proformance and the white smoke is fuel being burned off.
