Question about the temperature of the engine?

Hi,
I am wondering that what is the normal temperature of the engine? My water temperature gauge shows that it is 90'C under the normal driving. Is it normal??

That's because you live in Canada! LOL
Seriously though it is possible that your thermostat is gutted. I think generally running cold is a good thing as long as you make sure the needle moves at all. See Mazda engineers didn't want owners running to the dealer for every little difference from usual readings so your gauge is not very accurate. It actually has 3-4 stop points depending on the range of temp. your running. This is also because they're cheap asses.

Mine seems to run in the high 80's right now in southern california, I am sure that # will go up in the summer. In town or stop and go traffic it fluctuates up and down depending on the fans, I have seen it hit 99C.. then the fans kick on and bring it back down to the high 80's again.

I've don the fan mod to keep it at 180(Ferenheit of course) all the time. With the fans turned off in traffic it can get up to 220.

Your temp is pretty normal for an FD. Get the fan mod, it's definitely a great mod. As for my temps I hit 78-82 C and this is with a fan mod, and Fluidyne radiator. Also, the temps outside would be around 50F
