there are a bunch of places near so cal that can help rebuild your motor... but you gotta do your research. Do a search on the forum and you'll see a whole bunch of threads just dedicated to good/bad so cali shops.
avg price I would say for a good rebuild is about 5k.... someone please correct me if I'm wrong

well, if you could remove and replace the motor on your own, you could get a reman for a bit over $2,000 or have yours rebuilt for about the same price, but it doesn't sound like you really know much about FDs so I would suggest having a good shop do it. Rotary Reliability and Racing, R & R Rotary, Mazdatrix, and several others I can't remember are in CA and do rebuilds. Of course there are other companies that do it outside of CA, but the best advice I can give you is to search this forum and read as much as possible. Also check out the newbie thread at the top of the 3rd gen section, the links contained therein are priceless. Good luck and study up before spending any money. Josh
i'm currently in the process of a rebuild. it's at Tri-Point in canoga park. it's gonna run me about 8k because i'm also going to upgrade all hoses (vacuum, water, and heater) and replace the clutch since the engine is out.
depending on how bad your engine is you may have to replace the rotor housings due to warpage or wear into the chrome. if this is the case, you'll be looking at spending more on parts. hope you have deep pockets if you go to tri-point.
but ask yourself this ..... is it a good idea to replace/upgrade the stock parts now since the engine is out or wait till that part actually goes bad and spend more money for the labor to repair?
