Problems, Problems, Problems!

Okay heres the scoop:

Just had a T-78, Haltech installed. Car has been running kick *** for weeks. I parked the car last night and everything was fine. This morning I was running errends and noticed I had no boost! I checked my Profec-B and everything seems to be still hooked up correctly. The car runs awesome just no boost.

What should I check?
- Should I try to reset Haltech?
- Can I somehow test the Profec-b?
- Should I check to see that the wastegate isn't stuck open?

Any help would be aprreciated!
Thanks!

do you have a boost meter? is it disconected? is the boost controller equipped with a boost meter also? maybe its messed up. is there any kind power loss at all? id say that your boost meter is messed up if it drives the same.

no Autometer boost gauge reads 20 in vacuum but when turbo is suppose to come on @ 3000rpm to 7500rpm it reads 0. The turbo is definately not coming on. Car is all motor right now.

Vipereater,

I'm no expert on the FD, and I proved it by forgetting to tighten one of the two hose clamps (the upper one) at the top of the "Y-tube"/crosstube interface. I had exactly your symptoms. I would look for an air leak somewhere between the Y-tube and the input manifold.

Can you hear the turbo spooling? Does it seem to sound like it did when it worked? Can you hear a wooshing sound? If the answers are yes, then you may have a boost leak. If not then you may have a boost control issue.

No I cant hear it spooling. I am running an open wastegate and when my T-78 spools up it is load as can be! Now I dont hear that sound. I think it might be my Profec-B?

If you can't hear it spool, maybe the turbine wheel isn't even spinning. Did you shut the car off after some spirited driving without letting it cool down? May have coked her up (hope not).

Check to see that your wastegate is working, and make sure your turbine is spinning. Check your BOV

yeah, check your profec. If the power to the profec is OFF, then you should boost to 7psi (at least on the seq. turbo setup) - i ran into 2 problems with my profec before:
1. no boost past 7 - profec was on, but the wire to the stepper was loose.
2. no boost at all (like 1 psi) - one of the vac. hoses from the profec had a split it in at the nipple on the actuator side of the turbo.

I'd check your hoses -

To check to see if the turbine is spinng I can just removes the air filter on the Turbo and have someone rev it up over 4000rpm and the Turbine should move right? Do you think the Profec-B could have went bad?

Another note is that while at idle I have my boost gauge reading 20 in Vacuum and as I accelerate the Vacuum decreases and starts heading for boost but stops at 0 between Vacuum & boost. This is at 3700rpm. It seems like the turbo is building boost but the boost gauge stops when it hits 0. Wastegate possibly stuck I would asssume but I also think it could be the Profec

If you can rotate the turbine by hand (without air cleaner), and there is no binding, or noise, then your turbine is good. The wastegate is a spring style correct? try moving it with some vise grips, and or remove the c-clip on the wastegate and move the door on its own.

Guys, My Apologies! I just took a look at the car & noticed that the coupler between my Greddy Elbow and IC piping had come loose. Tightened her up and test drove, we are back in business!

Thanks again for all the quick replies.

Oh man, that has got to make you feel better
Isn't it funny (or maybe not) how paranoid us FD guys can get, I mean sheesh. Glad to hear that it was a simple fix.

I do believe you hit this one straight on. I'll give you the props. not for the Y-pipe, but for your thinking.
