problem
well guys, here are the symtoms,
car stumbles and sputters around 2500 rpms, check engine light blinks on, and goes off, and backfires a little, about 50% of the time when i push the gas while driving, it gets better as the i drive the car more, and the problem is not as bad if i unhook the airpump, and if i keep contant pressure on the gas, the car revs fine. if the car is cold, it will start right up, if i have been driving it, and cut it off for a few mins, the car takes about 5 times to crank, with the occational light backfire. anybody? i have new plugs, and wires, coils checked out good, and i have a new fuel filter, leaky injectors? clogged injectors? clogged main cat? TPS out of wack? anybody? thanks |
it could be your air pump or clogged main cat. If the air pump was bad for some time, then it probably clogged up the main cat.

i do have a main cat, would i need one with a high flow cat? do yall thing this is my problem yall?
thanks |
it could be your problem. I think even with the hi-flo it would be better to keep an air pump if there is a pipe on the hi-flo to hook it up to. That way it won't clogg up in couple of months.

I have a used air pump for sale with under >30k miles on it. It comes with hoses and the bracket if you need. give me an offer in pm or email at monkeysbear@hotmail.com

check the tps and everything you took off to change the plugs (if you did it from the bottom it shouldn't have caused any problems) and anything else you might have taken off before. also, be careful when looking for the issue, you can get distracted by the main problem and do something else wrong, this is a very common mistake and it's why a lot of people's cars seem to stay fucked up once something goes wrong.

im still in search of my problem, i put a new o2 sensor on yesterday, and the other one was pretty bad, so maybe i will quit running so rich, but by now i think i have fouled my new plugs already, so i will have to get more i guess.
i also tried to dertermine if my main cat was clogged. i took it off, and went to a dark room, and put a flashlight down in on end, and could not see any light out the other end, not good i thought, but i was still not satisfied. so i got my air compressor, and hooked up my blowing tool, and rigged up a gasket, (from cardboard, and ducktape), and placed the blowing tool in one end of the main cat, sealed it off, here are the results: at 40 psi, about enough air came out the other side to blow a feather. at 80 psi, about the same result. at 100 psi, might blow a big turkey feather. lots of sut in there too, i dont know a lot about these main cats, but it seems like there should be more air flow than that, what do u yall think? |
