Power Steering Rack Rebuild/Refresh-Pics w/part numbers

Thought I would share a recent project I completed for those of you who want or need to freshen up your power steering rack.

I bought a car from a forum member who claims to have lost control of it and curbed it. In the process, they damaged many of the suspension components including rupturing the seals on the inside of the rack itself. Instead of rebuilding the entire rack, I bought a used one off of Fritz Flynn. When I received it, it was filthy and parts a little rusty, so I decided to freshen it up a bit before putting it in the car. I did not want to run the risk of putting it in and having problems.

I can post pics of the assembled unit if anyone wants to see it.

Hope other forum members find this useful.

Richard

Four years later, just talked to Ray in wholesale, and price total was just at $100.00. Not bad for how long ago those prices were. Retail you're looking at 200ish.

The places where a part number is blank is where only the Mazda part is available. As I will be dropping my car about 2", I plan on buying a bump steer tie rod end kit in lieu of the standard ends. I ordered the boots and seal kit from Auto Zone. They decided to ship ALL 3 items separately. Still, the prices were good. Hope this helps anyone. Just trying to contribute.

If you go to Rockauto.com you can get a lot of the stuff cheaper, they have the best prices that I know of on the tie rod boots at least. Also I ordered tie rods through MOOG on the rockauto site and received Mazda Factory tie rods for about 30 bucks each? Also doesn't Maval rebuild the rack and turn it into a manual rack for like 300? Not sure if that price is current though.
