pic of my diff explosion

anyone wanna figure out how it happened? i have solid diff mounts, a diff brace, and a kaaz diff. the r&p both have chips in them, and that brace that runs through the ppf is cracked right in the middle. i'm still kinda baffled

well, i just replaced the clutch pack in the kaaz. the other one burned up from bad shimming. i had just pulled a 1.66 60ft with nitto 555r's, the pass before that one and thought i could do it again. the diff apparently wanted no more. i really have no clue what happened. there was no wheelhop at all. i was running on pump gas, which i put down 439whp on.

looks like cost is gonna be under $300 or close to it. the diff still seems to be fine. i'm gonna take it apart to make sure nothing got in it tho. my guess is either the solid mounts and brace kept the diff from flexing with the car and just made it snap or that brace that runs through the ppf snapped under flex and hit one of the yokes on the driveshaft, causing a sudden stop. i'm taking the car to my house on wednesday and tearing it apart again to see what the deal is. i just put it back together on friday night and it exploded on saturday night. talk about luck

the kaaz only has around 200 miles on it, so i don't think i'll be ditching an $800 diff for a t2. not unless i find something wrong with the diff itself

I used to get 1.62 60's on a stock diff and M&H's and no special bracing etc. That's really interesting.

Double check your fuel lines! When it fragged it may have hit some of them.

That is really unfortunate to see. I am sorry. This type of "blowout" happens alot in the 4x4 community. I hope things work out for you.

that's why i'm baffled. i know everything was installed right. i think i may take the diff brace back off and see how it does without it. i'm thinking there should be a little bit of flex somewhere! lol

i'm just calling it a freak accident right now until i investigate further. i thought i broke another axle, but i let out on my clutch and didn't hear anything at all, so i was like uh oh. looked in my rear view and saw a nice trail of gear oil behind me

I find it interesting how the crack line lines up with the mounting point for the diff brace...

Holy sh*# man!! That is friggin awsome. Very impresive. You did your job completely!!

That said I am suprised Jimlab hasn't chimed in here, Ford cobra rear end anyone? I know you have a Kaaz. So do I but damn that was a major weak spot... Caused IMO by the Diff brace in sales rite now!

Man I never thought I would see that 80 pound terd get ripped apart like that! Again, Very nice job! That must have made a pretty nice sound when it happened too.

yeah, i put the brace for sale. i just don't see me needing it anymore. i'll see how she does without it.

and yeah, i'm kinda proud that i shattered it good, but then i gotta realize that it needs to be put back together! lol

as much fun as that'd be, i'm not building the car for drag use. i drive it as often as i can. i put 17k miles on it last year. this year i'm just breaking **** too much to be able to drive it. i wouldn't mind doing that to one and use it strictly for drag racing though
