pc680 battery question?
 

for those of u who have it, how does it handle an alarm system? I want to put an alarm on my 7, but not sure if the pc680 can handle it. can it?

don't see why it won't , as long as the alarm isn't going off all day....

the 680 battery is mainly for turning the car over...

i just put that battery in my car this past weekend and couldn't be happier. i relocated it to behind the drivers seat so it frees up a lot of space in the engine bay. it's small but we don't need anything more.

I have this battery in my car but i havent used it yet. Both the person who sold me the car and Jose Fuego told me that they dont hold a charge for more than 3 days when not used. If thats the case and you have your alarm going off quite a bit then I dont know how long it would hold a charge. Then again, everyone on the Subaru forums love the battery and say its better than the stocker

I've been running it for about a year now. And I have a single setup with a nice alarm. I keep a 2 amp trickle charger on it when i'm not driving so i've never had a problem with having the power to crank the car over. HOWEVER I did underdrive my alternator and there was a big difference in how many Volt the battery would hold. I just put a smaller pulley back on the alt and it's doing much better. but if i had it t do over again (and i still plan on this one day) I would get an optima and relocate it to the trunk or storage bin.

I just installed a PC680, and it will drain in just a few days. I can trust my car to sit overnight, but any longer than that, I disconnect the batt.

For those wanting to get a mini-battery, buy a cutoff switch.

I leave my FD sit for a few weeks sometimes and the mini battery can still turn it over no problem.

I've had a PC680 since 2005. Since then, the RX-7 has spent over a year as a daily-driver, and some time sitting now that I've got another daily-driver. It will start even after sitting for two weeks, even at battery voltages below 12.0 Volts. There was a time when I made nothing but short (less than 10 minute) trips for 5 days in a row, and the PC680 never left me stranded. I've never been able to let the car sit for more than 3 weeks, but that's OK with me.


All you people who are having trouble starting, you guys are probably draining your battery somehow. Check this thread for more info:

but u guys do have alarm systems on your 7s right?

I love my Odyssey battery, and since I don't drive the car that much I keep it on the safe side and bought this charger/trickle charger. So far it works great and it was designed for the battery apparently. Actually I got the 12 amp version, there are three to choose from.

Just the OEM anti-theft system.


Follow that link I posted, read the last page, it shows how to measure the current draw when your car is turned off. If the aftermarket alarm is using a lot of power, you might not want to let the car sit too long if you install the PC680.
