Overheating problems

I took my intercooler off recently to clean it and what not and I disconnected my radiator so I could get the intercooler out. Since I hooked it up, i refilled the coolant and what not but since I put everything back together I have been overheating.. well getting hot, I kill it before i can overheat. My question is, what could be the cause of my problem?

Did you burp the air out of the system? What ratio of coolant/water did you put back in?

Also, why would you remove the radiator to remove the intercooler, do you have an FMIC or something?

Sounds like air in the system.. it takes few warm ups and cooling down to completely take the air out.. this is pretty true to all cars when coolant is taken out and re-filled..

When i put my radiator, I was told to do this 3-4 times to make sure..

hope this helps..

If its not the air in your cooling system.. then you have some serious problem.. possibly your coolant seal might be gone.. I hope its the air..

Try draining the coolant again, and burp the system next time while you are adding coolant. Also try checking the thermostat and maybe even the waterpump. But since you just put coolant back in, I agree with the other posters that you probably have some air in the system.

Yeah, it gets good water pressure, I think its just my gay setup. I am running a stock radiator with a ac condensor as well as a intercooler infront of it with no belly pan. The previous owner did some really horible intercooler setup. The motor is brand new with less than 4k on it. So I know its no seal. I am not burning coolant ect. The car is just getting hot. I am working on seeing if air is in the system but I think the stupid setup is the cause.

My fans are also hardwired to stay on high all the time so I dont think the thermostat would matter if it wasnt working right?

That's correct. If they are on all the time you shouldn't get near the temps where the thermostat comes into play to turn them on.

Where in FL are you. I know of a shop that does a hell of a job if you still need help. PM me if you need details.

That's an unusual setup.

Having a belly pan would sure help, also a FMIC isn't going to help a car that is already known to overheat.
<must be the bling factor>

If the thermostat wasnt properly opening, you WOULD have a problem!

No kidding!

If your thermostat isn't opening, your fans are just cooling the water/coolant sitting in the radiator. Meanwhile the water/coolant sitting in the engine block just keeps on a gettin' hotter.

1. check your thermostat
2. reinstall your belly pan -- one of its functions is to force air into the radiator
3. a stock radiator is going to have a tough time cooling with the car with an FMIC in front of it

Well, its not a real fmic. The previous owner put this joke of a setup in it. He set the damn radiator standing straight up so the turbo inlet is sitting 3 inches from the radiator. Then he has the ac condensor hooked to the radiator. And then the intercooler is set about 5 inches from the frame in the front. No way to get a bellypan on it. When I do my FMIC I am getting a fluidyne ect and doing everything the way its supposed to do. I think my thermostat is opening because when my car runs hot, the coolant is boiling.

While it may be different in person, that setup doesnt really look THAT bad, its your typical FMIC arrangement for the FD really. Though im sure the stock radiator isnt helping things, nor the fact that the highest point in the system is the top of the radiator not the AST or fill caps. Have you tried running the car with both coolant caps off? if you remove them and run the car for 15 minutes it should burp some air. Do that 2-3 times and you may find your problem goes away. Be real careful though cuz overheating is like instant death for the 13b.
