Outer Tie Rod Ends Recommendations.
 

What/Which outer tie rods do you recommend for FD and more importantly WHY?

Stock ones.

They fit.

Um, what are you hoping to improve by moving away from oem?

Just want to get good quality outers, nothing really performance based just good quality. Didnt know what people prefer. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Non OEM footwork is done for clearance, more adjustment then stock and sometimes price as in the case of bushings that having to be pressed in and out.

^^ So i dont understand what your saying exactly. the question was which do you recommend and why? are you recommending aftermarket or OEM ?

the posts above are all referring to why would you want to aftermarket ones if you do not have clearance issues. Get new oem ones and call it done

I just did new OEM ones for our one race-car. Maybe that will help inform the direction you should move... :lol:

'go back' with OEM? What were you using before? Maybe you're referring to a different part..... we are talking about the pieces on the end of the steering rack that connect to the knuckle and secure with a castle nut and cotter pin right :)?

None other. I have removed my destroyed Mazda OEM ones. And based on the input here I will be going back with Mazda OEM ones once again.

i did mine around late of last year but i changed out inner/out and the boots (mine were torn to shreds) just the outer i believe will cost around 101.86 i have part number if you need it, but if your calling Ray he knows them off the top of his head.

I actually just ordered MOOGs from RockAuto they were the cheapest and figured MOOG = OE quality. But thank you. I'm considering changing my bellow boots too if you have that part number I would appreciate it. Inner tie rods good no play.

oe does not equal oem. OEM > OE, always. I searched moog quality and people on honda tech seem too like it. Although on some mopar forum some guy wasn't too happy with them. Moog quality?....Be careful!. I dont get it you were asking everyones opinion on this board of which one you should get and you still didnt go with OEM ?? I'm going to change my tie rod ends out soon and theres no way in hell i'd put some Moog over OEM.

Wow everyone! What a bunch of horrible responses to a simple question!!!!!! My advice is actually what you have done. I prefer moog over oem for anything ball joint related. The reason is simple. All moog ball joints that i have ever purchased come with a grease zirk fitting installed in them. This means that you can pump fresh grease into the joints as you see fit. The quality of the boots and robustness of the parts themselves are usually to or exceeding oem standards as well. I do not like having open heim joints with bump steer adjustable spacers for tie rod ends like many of the aftermarkets sell. I dont think adjusting the height of the tie rod end pick up with out doing anything to adjust the roll center is very advantageous. And the use of an "open to the elements" heim joint is just begging to cause you problems long before an oem style end will.

the boot part number is FD01-32-125A for the left and FD02-32-125A for the right.

not sure if they are different in any way because i never looked.

These are the steering rack boots i use. NISSAN S13 S14 240SX 240 Z32 TIE ROD STEERING RACK BOOT | eBay
they have lots of things superior to the oem steering rack boots. At least thats how i feel about it. i also used the uras inner tie rods from rhdjapan as they are stronger and have a rack spacer built in for just a touch more steering angle which i find useful for parking and things. As well as more oversteer correction ability.

Hank, who is talking about heim joints etc? The outer tie rod ends are pretty basic. OEM works just fine even for those who make double stock power and go out on the road course. I don't see many horrible responses, but I do see yours which really doesn't address his original post :)

I do like those wicked steering rack boots though.... I'll have to keep those in mind, thanks for posting about them :icon_tup:
