oil catch can...

Can someone post some pics of their setup with catch cans? I'm having some hard time understanding which hoses go to catch can.

Somebody told me to use both lines from the oil filler neck and put them to catch can and then someone else told me to use one from the primary turbo inlet and one from oil filler neck and cap the rest.

Thanks guys.

The top oil fill line has a PCV valve that goes to the Manifold, that can be capped and run to the catch can.
The bottom filler neck line goes to the primary turbo inlet. That is the source of most of the oil in our intakes.

on rob's web site, there is a picture that shows where they removed PCV valve passage and used the oil filler neck hose and the one coming from Primary turbo, and hooked them up to the catch can. Is that the right way?

Amel,

Cap the nipple on the primary inlet and run both nipples from the filler neck to the catch can. :)

Ok. I'll do that then. Thanks buddy.

Here's my setup. I installed it right before heading out to Indy. It's deffinitley done its job with cleaning out a lot of PCV crap that would have otherwise been disposed of in the intake.

I saw your pictures before and it seems like you are using the primary turbo inlet and the oil filler neck. But that catch can is closed. It doesn't brethe. I'm just going to vent both oil filler necks.

You can use the filler neck to the catch can and the PCV valve between the intake and the catch can. The whole point is to keep the oil mist from entering into the manafold. At the same time, you need to keep the case in a vaccume to keep a good seal.

I have found that using an vaccume pump on the honda's I've built have reduced blow-by and improved compression. I know that they are not RX7's, but the same principal applies.

So what are the down sides to no having one of these?

BoOsTin FD 05-17-04 10:05 PM

oil in the intake is one of the reasons i'm doing it.

In all actuallity, there is no down side, but it will help to keep extra oil buildup in the U/LIM.

So if both nipples on the filer neck are unplugged thats fine? Will you still get oil build up in your U/LIM?

CrispyRx7's site's the best. Note that the special Crispy Cap is needed for the Barber Bottle to work properly at open track events.
