non-sequential advice needed

i'm going to drop my non-sequential in pretty soon and i was wondering if porting the wastegate is actually necessary. when i got the turbos done at rotary reliability and racing they said that it is not necessary to do the porting but i would like to know your guys input. also the to wire it up i found a diagram on the forum and i would like to know if its a good one to use or if you guys have a better one. thanks

Depends on your exhaust system.

EjCabrera Sep 1, 2006 03:24 AM

what do you mean by exhaust like midpipe issues. okay the car has a streetport and that includes the exhaust ports. it has a downpipe, hiflow cat, and catback.

What computer are you running and do you ever plan on going to a mid-pipe ? You don't mention a boost controller. As long as you can maintain 10 psi of boost without spiking or creep then your wastegate is fine. If you can't then it will need to be ported.

If youre going nonsequential anyway then do it right and take off the turbos and dont cut corners... at the same time the wastegate is right there, its cheap insurance agianst the alternative!

^ what he said

if there is even a slight chance you will run a midpipe, you need to do it

what they said

okay that said where the hell can i get it ported

burnoutking999 Sep 1, 2006 01:24 PM

any capable machine shop should be able to handle it given the right specs. i beleive Improved FD knows of an excellent bit f info on where to get the template and spring.

or you can do it yourself if you have access to a diegrind..

Do it your self, a Dremel tool is good enough to do this.

sydewayz7 Sep 1, 2006 07:13 PM

yea

Yea i used a dremel and those sand papper barrel things..It worked good as hell and then hit it with something to make it a lil smoother.

crap i looked at the turbo's and didnt know where to start since everything was done by rotary reliability and racing. how do i get to the wastegate. i dont want to start taking stuff off and realize that there was a gasket there. any help would be great thanks.
