I have a question for the rx7 guru's though.

I am curious if any of you guys have any insight or opinions on the heat shield that came with my intake.

DO YOU THINK IT IS BENEFICIAL? OR DO YOU THINK I SHOULD TAKE IT OFF AND JUST LET THE FILTERS SIT IN THE OPEN?

THANKS GUYS FOR THE OPINIONS AND THOUGHTS. :)

wheres the pictures?

edit: ok now its showing up

nice setup although i prefer having the battery in the trunk...that heat shield looks like it blocks air flow not heat, just my .02

Lil Red 7 06-04-05 08:34 PM

fixed :)

Very nice............just need some more Bling bling in the compartment ! ! ! ! Looks good, you (heat shield) is a ggod name for it as it blocks the air you could draw from next to the radiator, it does how ever deflect the air from the fadiator fans ! ! !

Lil Red 7 06-04-05 09:24 PM

so does everyone think it would be better to just remove the heat shield then?

impactwrench 06-04-05 09:30 PM

I would'nt remove it , but it's not helping much. Airflow into the filters is coming from the engine bay, not directly from an isolated, cool source

MrBojangles 06-04-05 10:04 PM

Not a guru, however common sense tells me it is blocking the only cool air our engine bays get. My vote is for removing it.

The baffle is blocking direct hot radiator discharge, but you are still getting that, mixed with leakage from hood seams, which is better than the other. I have a cold air intake on mine, single turbo, which sucks air from in front of the radiator and front mount intercooler, through OEM holes. If someone can explain to me how to posts pics here...........

Two ways to do it.
1.) Get an account with photobucket, or imageshack
2.) email me the pictures and I can host them. <rotor4play@gator.net>

cool guys, keep the opinions coming.

Ditch the heat 'shield' :).

hotrodrx7 06-05-05 11:22 AM

Look at how the Pettit shield is made. It lets cooler air in from the bottom and blocks warm air from the radiator side.

Lil Red 7 06-05-05 12:54 PM

ok cool guys, i will try to mount it differently

Lil Red 7 06-06-05 12:29 AM

well i am gonna take it off when i get back from alaska, military trip

it is also getting a full paint job and a new front end and maybe a wing.
