Newb question about electronics

Guys when it comes to electronics I dont know very much but does the alternator/belt need to be connected for the coils to get spark? Thanks

It should run, but you will be running off 100% battery power. In most cars with good battery, this lasts maybe 70 miles.

Yeah im with him ^ your alternator just charges the battery and the coils run off the battery so yeah, if your batterys charged... it will. But then again if its been disconnected for the last 100 miles and your broke down on the highway i would say thats probibly your problem right there.
