Everything is kickasss save the monte carlo inspired rear.
sweet car. loved the sound. i do agree, i wasn't too fond of the rear end. it overextended the whole rear end. i just couldn't get used to it. overall the kit had some sweet lines on it though.
This thread reminds me about the D1 drift event. I saw a new 350Z in the car show that had a carbon fiber hood that was a replica of the RX7 Scoot hood. It bothered me that they straight out ripped off the design.
Looks nice but I agree the rear is definately "different". I also thought it sounded more aggressive in the 1st premier vid. Hope they will show more racing w/ it.

Originally posted by agantf5 The rims are from ENKEI. It's called RP-F1, and is very very light weight. So, I got four 17"s for my 93 FD, but not that expensive. You can check the info of those wheels below. http://www.enkei.com/New%20Product/2004HP.html I personally am satisfied with them. |

wish the guy got on it in the vid
that is the gayest vid ever, dont even think the car is fast by the vid... i think the back end looks real nice, but definately not on an rx7, it would look nice on a car that wasnt as rounded and contoured as the FD..
my big question is: is it all motor then? like the 4 rotor Mazda that won those endurance races? i didnt see a intercooler either. |

i have the video of the 4 rotor rving up in the shop as the guy starts it and it has ITB for each housing. how do i post it?
love the headlights, I want a set
I've done some searching and found two other videos of the Scoot FD..or whatever it is now..Short Option 2 Review
Little Engine Clip |
hmmm would definately love to have that front bumper. Any word on if they are going to sell them?
That is the sickest 7 I've ever seen!!!!!
I love the concept, and I like the car - until you get around the back. I appreciate the work that went into it, but it just doesn't *work*. I think it's because of all the sharp angles and creases fighting with the curves that make up the rest of the car.
I absolutely love the beautiful noise the engine makes, though, especially in the "Short Option 2 Review" vid! |
The vid was SICK but the back end looks like its a wannabe Porsche GT or something
car looks good, the back end... everyone has their own style.
the video was boring and didn't do the car justice |
funky taillights look domestic!
Originally posted by joep I realize this. The car itself needs work. I got a deal i couldnt pass up. I also figured that if i was going to put a V-8 in one, I couldnt pull myself to do it to a really nice one. I enjoy projects. I think i may want to throw the 4 rotor in a FD. I dont see many Fd without engines that arent totalled. What would be a decent price for just a shell. It can be bone stock. I dont need anything done to it! |
I like it.. if mazda were to make a car similar to that.. a curvey Lexus GS 300 is what it kinda reminds me of. Even though the interior is totaly rx based...
The outside just reminds me of luxuary not so much as sport.. dunno why... |

I really don't see what's so bad about the bodywork. It's flawlessly done and integrated, although the rear seems a bit wide. You have to at least give them credit for blending everything in so well from front to back. Even the hump down the rear hatch is still there when it goes along the rear deck.
Maybe they're driving it slowly to break it in. |
i wanna see it run a 1/4 mile dammit
Where can I buy those headlights? I take it they're made by scoot?
I think they are NSX headlights.
Engine sounds great, in the one tunnel scene where you can hear it.
The body is, well...crap in my opinion. They should put out a video without music that highlights the engine, because that's clearly where all the work on the car has gone. |
engine with 4 rotor!
the engine itself sounds like in heaven. rear end ugly, i prefer the stock rear end for it. |
I must have missed it... where's the shot of the engine bay? How can we be sure it has 4 rotors?
well if the engine bay is not 4 rotor, i don't think option2 magazine will want to do a cover for it.
We've been slowly seeing this car come together. It is a 4 rotor.
that car needs a fat alum. wing on the back. i think the car would look badass with it on there.
are you guys sure its a 4 rotor because the article i was reading said it was 20b 3 rotor...check it out for your self
"You can always count on TAS for some incredible modified cars that look nothing like the cars they are based on but still as clean as they come from the factory. This Scoot tuned FD3S RX-7 is a good example. Though Scoot is known in Japan as a performance tuner with near record times at Tsukuba, this FD had all the makings of an ultimate rotary showstopper: chopped scissor action doors that folded horizontally as they swing up, redesigned body lines perfectly blended with a pair of Infiniti M45 taillights, 20B 3-rotor conversion, Brembo brakes, and much, much more. " http://www.urbanracer.com/articles/a....asp?a=789&z=1 |
damn
oh my
I like it...you've got to remember, that's NOT an RX-7 anymore... It's just the frame, really, and interior and I imagine that's been modified as well.
Realistically, that's a completly different car, practically...the exterior has been fully modified, the engine is different...hell why not? It think it's HOT, and looks like an upscale exotic...I love it...the front end could be a little more pleaseing, but I definetly like the sides and the rear. It's well done. Awesome custom work...props. :D Oh..and holy shiat...with turbos. |
1. Win Lotto
2. Buy 7 Shell 3. Insert Custom 4 rotor turbo 4. Test 5. Run in the low 8's in the quarter :D thats my 5 year plan. |
They really should have kept the orignal rear end then it would still be a pure rx7 BUT since it seems as thought they want it to be a totally different car its perfectly fine. It does look like a European exotic but its still beautiful and it will burn anything out on the road. That is the kind of car that people in rx7s want to race because they think it is some other european exotic when in fact its a fellow rx7 with an ambush makover. :p:
BTW i saw that pic of the rear in "sport compact car" Coverage of tokyo car show i think. |
Anyone spot what the headlights are off of?

That is soo weak. I'm sure the car is awesome but I was expecting them to demostrate the 4 rotor power or at least see the engine. Isn't that the point and not some sleek and questionably ugly body style? We don't even really know if it has 4 rotors.
Just noticed... Why the hell does it still have the rear wiper
Wtf is this it should be 2.4L not 2.6L. It's based off a 12a not 13b.
http://www.fullboost.com.au/events/g...xpo_03_30b.jpg |
thats insane!!!
Front half looks great, but the rear half looks like they were going all out to make sure it looked like nothing you ever saw before on an FD, and they did that, but completely missed in terms of putting it all together to look like it belonged together. Concept was good, but I would have tried again. Regardless, I would still not hesitate to take it out for a spin.
I think the back end looks awesome actually, but it doesnt go with the round lines of the rest of the car. If they could square up that front end and roof that thing would be one of the hottest cars on the planet.
