We need a sticky of crap rotary mechanics/tuners.

pp13bnos 07-01-03 07:11 PM

I'm going to wait for the few Hayes people to jump in and say something.

Badass- This realy sucks. If I where you, I'd think about talking to a lawyer, and maybe some of the other people Hayes has ripped off. My .02. CJ

SanJoRX7 07-01-03 07:27 PM

Definitely get them listed as a shitty business with the BBB.

evot23 07-01-03 07:42 PM

What that sucks! I'd start collecting what you can for the case. It appears that you got screwed. They should bend over backwards to fix this or pay you back for the engine and lost time at the VERY least.

Hope it all works out for you.

Johnny 07-01-03 07:43 PM

I take it you didn't read the horror stories from ppl like Jim Labreck many years ago with them....

stay far far away...............

Aviator 902S 07-01-03 07:47 PM

I'm not surprised at all. A very well-respected engine builder (who has nothing but good things to say about most of his competitors) told me to avoid those guys. He didn't go into any detail though, just said they were shady.

vudoodoodoo 07-01-03 07:51 PM

Wow, that's crazy.

badass7 07-01-03 09:44 PM

Actually, my brother owns a law firm and is a ruthless cut-throat lawyer hehe.....the good kind. It will cost me nothing to do everything I can to Take Down Hayes Rotary and make them think twice about messing over true rotorheads that pay their hard earned $$ !! I am in the process of taking pics. and gathering all the evidence. It may be a long shot BUT I have nothing to loose in trying.;) I would've posted pics. on this forum but lately it's impossible to do so. I have more pics. to come.

kyle@insight 07-01-03 10:11 PM

I can't even begin to describe how apauled I was when I saw the pic of the rotors they used. Horrid...

Here's proof enough boys, boycott and shut 'em down.

badass7 07-01-03 11:01 PM

If anyone has a story to share about a similar exprience with Hayes please post a reply or email me at talvendi@cs.com

911GT2 07-01-03 11:57 PM

This is exactly why I went with KDR for my rebuild. May be more expensive than some, may be longer than some, may be 6 hours away, but I know it'll be done right.

That really sucks, you should get at least a new engine and compensation for your time from them, and more if you make it a class action suit. Good luck man, keep us posted.

Svelte_7 07-02-03 12:16 AM

Wow.

That's fraud.
Negligence.
And some fuc*ed up repugnant shi*t.

I'm sure that with those photos and the "unbiased" testimony of a competent rotary mechanic *ahem* you can take them to the cleaners....

Talk to Ken (LUV94RX7) about his experience with Hayes while his car was at KDR, if he's willing to share.

Jumpin' Jehosophat

Go get 'im, Teddy :D!

Here, I'll start the list of shity FD mechanics.

1. All Mazda Dealerships
2. Hayes Rotary
3. ?
4. ?

LUV94RX7 07-02-03 08:57 AM

Okay, I'll share my experience. My car was shipped to KDR because my rebuilt Hayes ported motor blew an apex seal. Hayes shipped KDR a new rebuilt under warranty. That motor was bad. Hayes sent another rebuilt and that was bad. Hayes sent the third motor which was bad. Due to Dave at KDR being very busy and Hayes dragging their feet on the replacement motors my car ended up being at KDR for over 2 years.
Finally on the last bad motor Dave said he was not going to deal with the problem anymore. He already had dealt with other bad Hayes motors with other customers and it was costing him too much money. He told me he would rebuild it. I ended up paying Dave to rebuild it. I also paid for everytime Dave had to pull and replace all these bad motors. All in all my car was out of commission for a long long time due to bad Hayes motors. It also cost me a ton of money. Hayes did send KDR the parts needed to rebuild the motor.

My car is running pretty good now after Steve Kan tuned it awhile ago.

I remember hearing about that, Ken. You're a much nicer guy than me.....I would've flown out to Hayes (washington?) and f*ckin' molotov cocktailed that place......

WOW......3 times............that's just garbage. How do they stay in business is what I want to know. Well, I have real motor coming back finally and also having Steve Khan fly down here to street tune the Rx-7 Club of New Orleans rides. Can't wait to finally run right. Thanks for sharing your experience Ken. ;)

 Holy mother of god dude, they actually put that in a motor?! That thing is scarred to hell and back.

artguy 07-26-03 03:39 AM

burnins too good for em! hangins too GOOD for em..they should be ripped into little bitty pieces and buried alive!!!

sue their ass off. please.

this one will stick around here for a while....ya know...i dont understand how a shop can do that nowadays...hell..when xs fukked me with bad maps twice in a row it must have cost them thousands (granted i paid them thousands now..hehehe...and my car runs very well) with all the people who read that thread....their fukk up shed light on the bullshit idea of mail order maps for the pfc.....you would think that any big fukk up like this would cost them more money than if they just gave you the motor for free and paid for some hookers to deliver it to you.

good luck homie...thats total BS. I feel bad seeing that...tis disgusting.

Well man .... what are you going to do about it? Have you decided?

Bio-Weapon 07-26-03 09:47 PM

looks like someone went at those things with a hammer and some woodworking tools or a screwdriver. Someone should rebuild their own motor, document it fully on video or with photographs, then ship it out to Hayes to rebuild it, then tear it down when it gets back, and see whats in there. It would be amazing evidence to back up any legal cases against them. It could be like one of those Dateline things. Except that means someone has to fork over some cash for the rebuild that they prolly wont see again :(

How bout this beautiful "Stage 2" Street Port. Actually, they did not port it at all BUT did dig into the side of the port for some reason.....

i bought a hayes engine 5 years ago.. had it installed by a mech. i just took the UIM and LIM for the first time and saw i have two front housings.. they were both to be brand new one is new and one is old.. they even have different stamps of 13b on them. after that i stuck my finger in the intake ports to feel the ports.. geez me practice first port after drinking a six pack felt smoother.. i felt a few edges in their not very happy at all and i paid big bucks for that enigne

RX7 allnight 08-25-09 08:45 PM

my current build is using the rebuild kit out of atkins rotary. so far my engine has been holding up pretty strong even after my garrett turbo blew out on me recently. has strong even pulses when firing up and pulled like a train. i didnt have my engine rebuilt there tho, but i can say their parts are quality.

to the OP, i hope your lawsuit goes thru and you get the justice you deserve. times are tough as it is and money doesnt grow on trees. i hope these pricks get shut down and run out of business.

Dude this thread is over 6 years old

wolf_9782 08-27-09 09:16 AM

LOL, this is what happens when you only go to work with about an hour's worth of sleep. you dont pay atention to the dates. another user ressurrected it not just me!

Montego 08-27-09 11:13 AM

Yeah I hadn't seen badass7 post lately so it prompted me to look at the date. Otherwise I would had been right there with you lol.

anyone know if justice was served?

GoodfellaFD3S 08-27-09 02:38 PM

I still keep in contact with Ted.....he actually was helpful in getting me into my present industry (pharmaceutical sales). He owns a yellow C5 Z06 IIRC. I'll give him a call and ask him about whatever happened with this.

Considering this thread is actualy 6 years old you probably should have read this thread first and not gone to Hayes.

FD3S2005 08-27-09 08:04 PM

i do this all the time, i rarely ever look at the dates
