new fd owner.

Hey everyone.

first thread here. i picked up a 94 R2 over the weekend 39k miles totaly stock.

it was the one listed on ebay sure some of you have seen it.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=250085458944

not sure what to do with it, i really don't want to mod it, other then safty reliablity stuff, any idea where i should start or if i should do anything?

the dealer did replace all four tires for me, the tires on the car were the factory tires.

Congratulations....please read the FAQ thread and use the SEARCH function for reliability mods.

I just did a downpipe to replace the precat, a boost gauge, and an aluminum ast. The downpipe is a given. And replace all your fluids, especially coolant, often. Other than regular maintenance, thats about it for me. Read this entire site, also, and then resist the urge to mod.

welcome

Since I paid 18K for a 94 R2 red with 34K on it back in August, the price paid for this car makes me smile...

Mine was stock too. make sure the recalls were done (properly). My brake hose recall was not done right (they left the old check valve in and just added the new one by the brake booster).

Get a boost, water temp gauge.

Change the fluids.

The stickies are the place to spend your next month reading...

Wow, don't drive it!

willjs7 02-20-07 01:33 PM

man that thing is sexy :)

Compilez 02-20-07 02:42 PM

Welcome. Car looks great!

Gimpo 02-20-07 03:03 PM

how can i check if the recalls were done? take it to the dealer?

adam c 02-20-07 03:06 PM

Nice looking car. My advice:

1. Drive it very easy until you get used to it. We see a lot of new owners crash these cars shortly after buying them because they have no idea what the car is capable of.

2. Read a lot before doing ANYTHING to your car. There is an abundance of bad advice available here. Don't fall victim to the recommendations of some poser.

3. Have fun. You have purchased a great car. Enjoy!!!

4. Repeat #3 on a regular basis :)

Call MazdaUSA on the phone. They can look up your car by the VIN.

buzen 02-20-07 04:08 PM

Extremely clean car... congrats on the purchase... I think I am going to head down to CA as well to pick up my fd :)

jic 02-20-07 04:26 PM

check out Sahara Autos down in San Diego, good people, and they seems to restock their 7s quickly, last month they had a r1 and r2 then they had this r2 i picked up... they still have 5 touring models... it's a nice little dealership they cater to the import lover.

Have Mazda Dealer do all your maint/repairs

NOT!

Got some of you didn't I? Actually the Mazda dealer is about the worst place to take it. For these cars the dealer is about as dumb as a bag of hammers!

I love saying that :rlaugh:

Find a good rotary specialist in your area.

BillM 02-20-07 04:56 PM

btw: the oxidized spots on the spoiler can be buffed out easily. Dont repaint

RE-Amemiya 02-20-07 05:32 PM

+1! THis is a must! You'll be suprised how easy it is for these cars for the back end to start sliding... be very careful... the last thing we want is to see a beautiful 7 like yours go to waste.

SiKoPaThX 02-21-07 01:09 AM

Am I the only one who thinks that the OP payed a lot of money for this car? It's great to see them going for so much, but that seems like a lot.

Gimpo 02-21-07 04:33 AM

didn't buy it from Ebay btw i guess i should have said that :P i bought it in person from Sahara, paid 23 out the door. not much less but still :)

they had me go ahead and "buy it now" on ebay so they didn't have to close the auction and they wanted the positive feedback as did I.

took the car for a very slow curse on hwy 39, fun road not sure if anyone from so cali is familiar with it.

really enjoying it :)

GregFD3S 02-21-07 04:42 AM

damn! thats one clean FD!

you know its got low miles when it still has the stock tires!! LOL!

nice pickup, and welcome to the family! :D
