never ending problem... electrical issue!
 

I have had many problem wiv my car lately... the recent one is the bloody fan fuse!! It not only blown on me once but 3 bloody consecutive time in the past 1.5 month!?!

i know that it is nothing compared as a broken seal or not as painfull as a dying turbo... but driving around WITHOUT your fan working, stress me out!! luckily everytime it happens i paid attention to my gauges! *PHEW*

so at the mean time, i picked upsome spare fuse (60A)just in case it will happens again... but how can i remedy this problem?? any inputs needed

That will likely be a tricky one to find. Probably an intermittent short in the fan wiring - look to see if the harness is rubbed through anywhere.

i found out that it only happens when i run hard!! i know this because the fuse blew again... :eek: i guess your right, DCFC3S. maybe the wiring is lose or rubs again something... *sigh* ill try and take a look

I have dealt with similar electrical problems which kept snowballing on me. It started with my fans acting up, then the turn signals, then the room fuse, then check engine lights, then my computer fried, then I almost thought it toasted my motor. After months of diagnosis, I finally a damaged section of my front harness under the passenger fender liner. Seems the wheel has been rubbing against the harness for the last year or so and slowly cutting and shorting out a bunch of different wires. It was a real pain in the ass to diagnose since I had spent so much time going through wiring diagrams, testing circuits, and not finding my problem. I only luckily spotted one of the frayed wires sticking out Only a few days ago I finally got the car back on the road.

Anyhow, as for your problem, you need to get the service manuals from iluvmyrx7.com and start testing the fan system. You could have a short in the wiring, bad relay, bad fan control module, bad e/l unit. If you have any specific questions about the fan system, I am pretty familiar with it. You can PM me. If all else fails, you can rewire the fans, and any problems in the harness, etc can be bypassed. You can just have a switch to enable the relays. Hope that helps a little.

i kept blowing a fan relay and it was a nearly siezed up fan motor drawing too much current. try to turn your radiator fans by hand with the car off and see if they spin freely.

Greetings. Heard of a problem similar (but not exactly) like yours here in KL. Apparently the fan wires were somehow "worn" and "rusted". This guy replaced his fan wiring entirely and it worked fine after that. Your relay could have broken due to the regular switching. Hope this helps.

i havent find where the short is... but i tried spinning both of the radiator fan and its spin freely, so it seems the fans are alright.

i might have rubbed some wires when I installed my turbo back, but i dont see how!?! the only way is to take the I.C. and everyting else that covers the fan and inspect from there... hopefully is a minor problem

would collant disintegrated the wires? cz sometimes i overfill the radiator filler neck and tank which is on top of the fan...?

I get coolant all over my wires and nothing has happened yet to those wires.

Also, what's the cost of parts like in Brunei? I know it's relatively cheap in Kuala Lumpur. Why not just purchase some old fans and just install them in? Don't think your 60A fuses will be that cheap! ;)
