I have ordered the select shift spindle upgrade R503 17 550 and removed the old one from the transmission but it doesn't fit....
the new one is smaller and the holes / gasket are misaligned ....?
pictures attached
thanks for the HELP

See attached. The shift select spindle is circled in red and mounts to the driver side of the extension housing underneath the shifter control rod end. The other, circled in blue, is not a shift select spindle, but rather the select lock spindle which is on the other side of the extension housing and provides counter force to the shift select spindle. You need both.
And if you take off the select lock spindle while the control rod end is installed, it's a real pain to reinstall as the spring wants to keep popping out. And this PITA is doubled if the transmission is mounted tying to get that thing back on underneath the car. Ask me how I know...

thanks for the Help TOM, it makes way more sense now
Should I reinstall the old spring/circled in blue) with gasket? , is not damage .
or should I order a new one, wonder if there is an update version for this one too...
thanks for your time

If you got it off, probably doesn't hurt to replace the spring and gasket (if they aren't NLA). There's no upgrade to that. It's just a spring that provides counter force to the shift select spindle (via the control rod end). And don't forget to fill the extension housing with oil (how to is outlined in the FSM)

Hi, I'm having issues with shifter not returning to neutral completely when coming out of 5th. should i be replacing my shift select spindle? what's the part number for the other part? could these parts be replaced with transmission in place? Thanks!

You can find part numbers online from sources such as

and Ray Crowe should know off the top of his head
yes, but it's a pain.
Thanks, I've replaced the shifter bushings and turret housing oil. Transmission fluid is new MT90 filled to the top and leaking a little out of the filler plug.
Yes I found the parts on that website after the fact I wrote my response. Ordered everything from Ray.
After inspecting the transmission, PPF has to be removed to do the driverside spindle. The passenger side is easily accessible by removing the cat. Either way, its easiest to remove PPF and cat.
