Question Need Help

Here's the deal i was on the highway and when i went to to get on the off ramp my car shut off ,so i started checking it and it all aimed to the fuel pump,i check the fuel pump and sure it wasn't working, then i get the new fuel pump in and the car tries to start but it won't and since the car has a turbo timer it stays on with the open switch and there is a buzz coming from under the intake manifold, is there a relay or something thats causing my car not to start that would make such a noise??
thx for the help in advance

More details.....mods, more symptoms, etc.

How do you know "it was all pointed at the fuel pump?" Does the car crank/try to turn over?

sounds flooded, make sure you got enough juice in your battery. Pull the egi fuse and crank it for about 20 sec,. do this 2 or 3 times and try to start it. If it doesnt fire up do it again untill it does.
The click/buzzing comming from the uim is normal...

and the new fuel pump tests out fine? It does like its about to crank up, meaning its not cranking? Is it flooded? The problem could also be ignition or electrical related

was the system primed after your fuel pump swap??

since you loose pressure in the system after removal of the pump, im almost certain you have to prime it otherwise you'll have a hard time starting the car initially..

believe it or not but when my friend was building his drag car (honda lol), he had 2 fuel pumps in..at high rpm and full boost, the engine would choke, almost detonating the engine..he found out later on that one of the pumps was installed in reverse..lol

so i guess thats another possibility..

I would think it was an electrical problem like a bad ground. However if you think it's flooded just take out a spark plug and if it's soaked in gas then you know its flooded. Follow he procedure for fixing a flooded rx7if thats the case.. otherwise get a multi meter and test the voltage at the plugs and check for a ground bolt that might have come loose.

I thought all you needed to do is floor the accelerator pedal while cranking to kill the fuel supply. Of course unless you are flooded that does not help.

not to be the bearer of bad news but your car has the symptoms a cracked apex seal. mine went the same way (stalled when i got off the highway ramp). then it was really difficult to start and when it did start it would smoke heavily.

do a compression check. good luck.
