What kind of degreaser do you guys use, I have yet to have success with any I have tried.
That also includes a healthy amount of arm power invested into it as well... I have sone kinda black grey gunk on the side of the engine bay frame rails that I cannot seem to get off... Btw, that looks fantastic, some might criticize, but for free man, you are doing awesome, the flat black looks good, and the clean engine bay pulls it all together nicely... J. as for the paint, its just primer atm. ive been experimenting on the door as you can see on the last pic. my paint job wont be done until the end of the year. i have to get most of the exterior straightened out before i paint. dont want to work on the car with fresh new paint. as for the paint im using. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...g/DSC_5180.jpg From what i hear, the cheapest costing satin paint but probably the most sturdiest cus its meant to withstand the weathers. 30+15 shipping compared to 100 (from what i have seen) for a gallon of car paint. I have not tried it but you can google some nice successful paint jobs done with this paint. other than that... thanks everybody for the support! |
My ghetto painting booth.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...DSC_5275-1.jpg My decent paint job, matte black with some morning dew http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...DSC_5278-1.jpg time for some shoes... |
Nice, that look hella better!

Your build is powering along! The before and after pics of the engine bay are amazing. I'm currently in the process of doing a bit of under-body and engine bay cleaning myself. Hopefully it turns out as good as yours did :)
Well done, looking forward to seeing more! :) |
lol thanks,
yeaa lots of free time, minor experience in body work, plenty of trial and error with a touch of impatience helped me along this summer. For the performance and mechanical part... ill let a pro touch... last thing i want is an over size paper weight sitting in my yard. My motivation is to get this baby running before class starts... i want people looking cus its a clean car not cus its falling apart... Anyways i think im approaching homestretch... I just need to pick myself up a 99spec spoiler and either refinish my rims and space them out or pick up some new ones... |
Something i would feel would help you out with your "flat black" theme paint job. Dont use automotive flat black it leaves lines. Go to hardware store and pick up cans of Grill (like grill you cook food on) flat black spray paint. Gives the best flat black finish and looks professional no lines. Believe me i have flat blacked enough cars to finally figure out that this is best method.

Congrats on the free FD. What a difference the degreaser did. If you aren't going to get rid of the twins, I would check the vacuum hoses and couplers for leaks. Your FD is looking 100% better already. Nice paint also. I wish I knew how to paint.
I would get an oem radiator cap and get an aftermarket AST. IMO, the FD's cooling system is the weakest part of the car, oil and coolant. Good luck with the rest of your build, I look forward to your updates. |

Not bad at all, liking that ghetto painting booth, hey it works!
Keep it up, anything you have done it, little or much makes it look much better than before. |
