dhahlen 05-20-07 11:25 PM

Why the hell is this in the parts for sell section?

silentblu 05-20-07 11:35 PM

maybe since he's running out he's trying to buy more gas in the fs section??

Rbkouki 05-20-07 11:56 PM

I'll take 2 of them!

Tim McCreary 05-21-07 12:15 AM

Check to see if fuel injectors are leaking. Is this a stock or streetported motor?

Tim

PS Next time, pay attention to the section you are posting in. It is easy to put it in the wrong one. I do it all the time.

how fast do u drive the car?? u know, if ur on the throttle the whole time, that might be another reason.. =/

RISEN 05-21-07 01:05 AM

Or perhaps your motor is running low compression

+1, your mileage seems to be right on with that kind of driving. I used to get around 210-240 miles per tank.

Are you driving in the city or highway? Can you use cruise control? Try staying out of the boost as well.

Rx7aholic 05-21-07 07:59 AM

FD is not a honda dude, why complaint about FD gas mileage?

For a fairly stock FD without all the miles being highway miles, that's about right. Get used to it.

zack4173 05-21-07 08:46 AM

I get right around that in my mileage. No one buys this car for mileage:) get a beater honda for mileage thats what I did

adam c 05-21-07 09:20 AM

I get 9 mpg. What are you complaining about?

adictd2b00st 05-21-07 09:23 AM

huh?? 200 miles on a 20 gal tank? that's 10mpg...

that can't be right.

my FD isn't stock, but close to it, and i still get 16 - 18 mpg

MADDSLOW 05-21-07 09:29 AM

^must be nice...

How are you calculating your MPG?

Here's a good thread on the same topic:

https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/whats-your-mpg-601591/

There is also a good procedure in the thread for properly calculating MPG.

how? well...let's see. i drove the car until the gas gauge was just touching the bottom line (no, the light wasn't on yet). i filled the tank and put 15 gallons in (that filled it to the top) and reset my trip meter. then i drove the car over a period of a few days and when the gas gauge hit the exact same spot as before (just touching the bottom line) i filled the tank again (it took exactly 15 gallons again - so i know i was calculating w/ the right amount of gas. then i took a look at my trip meter and it said 250 miles.

250 miles / 15 gallons of gas = 16.67 miles per gal

btw, about 1/2 of those miles are highway miles. also, i drive my car very lightly. i'm not hitting full boost off every stop light haha.

am i wrong here?

---edit---

just checked that thread you linked to... seems like my mpg is about right. what's the problem?

That's about right. If you are getting quite a bit of highway miles, that's going to increase your mpg. If you just toot around town, you'll see about 200-220 to the tank.

I'm getting right about the same as you..But then again,Every single mile on my car is from city driving, and the only time i'm not hitting full boost is when I am stopped at a light :rlaugh: Oh well..You have to pay to drive the car the way it should be driven..Just a shame that gas is so expensive these days

HP01_FD3S 05-21-07 10:09 AM

9 miles per gallon, wow. And I was complaining about getting aroung 16mpg..

skir2222 05-21-07 11:33 AM

I am happy with my gas mileage I can say that I have a T04R 1680/550 injectors I believe its between 16-18mpg off boost on boost... yea whatever its a sports car I dont look for gas mileage there... My FC on other hands... yea

when i had my FD, i averaged around 16-22mpg depending on how much i was "getting on it". in other words, i'd get between 320 and 400 miles on a tank, but never less than 300. it wasn't very heavilly modified and everything was running well (good compression, etc.)

have you checked for clogged cats, bad spark wires, bad ignition coils, leaky injectors, bad spark plugs, clogged intake filter? there's a lot of very basic stuff that can cause major issues with fuel consumption. start there.

adam c 05-21-07 02:15 PM

I don't seem to get very good mileage when I am sitting at a stop light ......... which is too frequently :D.
