Is my clutch switch/started going bad?
 

well it stated out yesterday i rolled my car out the garage getting it ready for the meet, and when i finally went to start it, the car didnt start, i didnt even get the click click start nothing happened. its just as if i turn the key without the clutch being pushed. I tried about 4 times and it started no problem, went to the meet, when it was time to leave same problem. checked the voltage on the pfc 12.5 which was more than enough to start it. i ended up having to get push started. went to work let it sit for about 20 mins and went to test start it, started no problem..

about 3 hours later i was leaving and i had the problem again took me about 5 mins of messing around turning the key and pushing the clutch in and out, and it finally started and took it home.

so could it be the clutch switch, started? if its anything like thos is there a way to test it?

The clutch switch is relatively easy to check, there are maaaaany threads about it. Basically, it
just unscrews and has one clip on it. Upper/Front portion of the clutch pedal base. You can
either replace the spring inside, or buy a new one. Its a fairly cheap part even new. I think maybe $14?
Now I am not a mechanic or even close to some self-proclaimed internet mechanic haha but
I beleive the *click* normally heard before cranking is from one of the main fuse relays in the fuse panel located to the right of the power steering unit. I think its called the "circuit opening relay" maybe yours is shot? Just my $0.02. probably cheaper than a starter :)

I have a hard time imagining the cruise control intermittently working is connected to your
starting problem sounds more like a wiring problem? The clutch switch is super simple to
check. At least you could rule that out right away. Honestly it might take you longer to find
the appropriate wrench then to unscrew it.

No it will not change the height of your clutch pedal at all. In your first post you said you have
a Power FC. If so, you can go under the Etc. Menu and do a sensor check to see if the clutch
switch is working. Then you don't have to attempt this "yoga" position.

The clutch switch has a plunger that contacts the clutch pedal and is adjustable. It can be done without removing the switch, just unplug the two leads to it and connect it to a (VOM) Volt-Ohm-Meter, set at Ohms.

Lossen the nuts that secure the switch, there are two, one for adjustment and one for locking it. A fully extended plunger will read 0 ohms, meaning the switch is closed and passing 12 volts. When the clutch pedal engages the plunger, it should read the resistance of the switch, probably about 10-15 ohms, meaning no current passing through.

I would first check to see if the plastic backing on the clutch pedal that meets the switch plunger is still intact. Sometimes it breaks and the plunger goes fully extended in the hole. If that is the case, then put some flat head screw facing the plunger and bolt the backside.
