My '93 Build... almost done!

So since i popped my motor in August I started spending thousands of dollars on stuff and started my build in late December. Now that it's early March I need to hustle since spring is just around the corner. As of today the car was ready to start for the first time, until I turned the key and burned out my igniter so as of tomarrow I will have a replacement to try again LoL. These pics are from 2 weeks ago so they aren't completely up to date. Here's my mod list so far. This is just for the engine/fuel/igniton. Much more work to do to the rest of the car.

Lots of shiny goodies :). The cerama-chromed t-stat housing is headed your way, you should have it in a few days :icon_tup:

i'd like to hope for 600+, but who knows. if i need to i'll buy a larger turbo

FD2fast4ufool 03-08-08 12:37 AM

Wow thats one clean engine bay your building up. Nice!

Turblown 03-08-08 12:42 AM

Oil feedline looks like a -8? 4 coils and one msd box?

Don't really mean to bust your balls, but I see vacuum caps zip tied on coolant bungs. All that time spent chroming should have been spent welding or plugging that stuff.

Copeland 03-08-08 05:55 AM

Looks great! Keep up the good work!

I agree that the coolant lines should never be capped off, should either weld or run a line from the rear iron to the front. Running a cap is like having a stock AST again, you're just waiting for it to go.

I missed the coolant caps, those things typically don't last.

At this point you'd be better off cutting up a stock heater hose and plugging it with a 1/2 inch threaded plug from home depot. for the passenger side one, use a 90 degree bend portion so it's not as visible, and for the one on the driver's side block just use a short straight portion.

Pretty sure it's 1/2, bring a piece of hose to test fit, your adventure begins in the plumbing section of home depot

P.S. make sure you use some sturdy clamps :)

LoL wow people sure are quick to jump on stuff like this... these pictures are from a few weeks ago those are simply just capped to keep dust from getting inside since i am working at a body shop where lots of sanding goes on. thanks for looking out though!

Speaking of AST's... where would be the best spot to mount it??

Hitokiri_Gensai 03-08-08 02:08 PM

heh nice build buddy :P
you BETTER have that running at my place pretty damn soon!

yes oil feed line is a -8... and if u read my mod list, the 6AL is being replaced with a DIS-4 so it runs my trailing as well as my leading coils. right now its just setup for my leadings.

goreify 03-08-08 03:01 PM

lookin good bro, work looks mad clean.
eastcoast hc for life.

GoodfellaFD3S 03-08-08 03:08 PM

I've become a fan of deleting the AST, i used to advocate keeping them but I've since defected :D

RE-Amemiya 03-08-08 03:22 PM

Nice!

mikeric 03-08-08 04:36 PM

Beautiful! Very nice looking ignition system. I had never heard of that setup. Any more details on it?

well like i said as of now i'm just using the 6AL for my leading plugs off of 2 separate coils wired in parallel. The trailing coils are just wired right to the igniter. Once i get the DIS-4 hooked up, i'll have it pushing all 4 coils individually since it's a multi-channel ignition box. Much cheaper than using three 6ALs and a hell of a lot more space friendly!

i purchased one already... i'd kinda like to use it. i've heard mixed things about whether or not they are needed, but I figured it's best to be on the safe side, plus its shiney and i'm attracted to shiney objects :hahaha:

anyways... where would a good place to mount it be????

GoodfellaFD3S 03-08-08 07:33 PM

Heh, I know you like shiny crap, I've probably mailed 7 boxes of it to your place :D

Mount it as high as possible, wherever you can find a spot for it. you can use a bracket and mount it to the top middle of the rad, above the fans.

Phaz 03-08-08 08:12 PM

like the fuel system A++++++ ill be upgrading mine soon cant decide between your setup or the Ultimate Fuel System on rx7 net. if you dont mind me asking what made you decide on this one?

I'm sorry man that nobody here pointed this out. You could have saved yourself a ton of money. The problem is your tranny was installed up-side-down. You'd think they would have caught that before it left the factory. No need to modify your engine. Beautiful build though. Keep the pics coming.

really liking the color-coordinating.

you could have a nice sleeper on your hands
