Have you tried Ray at Malloy Mazda 888-533-3400?

Mitsubishi supplied parts Mazda when the car was manufactured. I have found lots of Mitsubishi symbols in my engine bay.

Mitsubishi makes a lot of odd things, from pianos to parts for other japanese cars.

you'll find mitsubishi parts in all sorts of cars - nothing to be alarmed about ;)

idk, it just seemed weird also because it does not look like a starter which is illustrated in the service manual i have (the thick green book)

bajaman 03-05-04 05:28 AM

Yeah, the new starter I put on was a Mitsubishi...and mine was $173.26 from ADVANCE AUTO PARTS, so you are right in the ball park.

Mazda buys parts from ALL OVER Japan for their cars, as do most other car companies. Look at the water pump...it is built by KUBOTA.
When I open the hood of my Volvo, half the stuff is built in Germany....it is just global supply.

ahhh i think that the starter illustrated in the manual is for an automatic tranny fd. perhpas thats why it does not look the same.

skunks 03-05-04 01:23 PM

where is Ray at Malloy Mazda located? im in hawaii and have been having trouble getting thru, perhpas its because of the time difference
