Missing part on UIM

Hey,

Just wrapping up the viton hose job on my car but forgot what goes here (see pic). I'm pretty sure it's not the throttle cable since the supports line up in other places. Anyone have an idea?

Thanks.

Can't really see too well what you mean, but there are two vaccum lines that plug into the side, and then another for the double throttle up a little higher and an electrical connector if I recall right.

Sorry - what is supposed to be screwed into the UIM at that particular location? I had a bolt hanging there with nothing attached to it.

I think it's a holder for the throttle cable. I actually never take that off.

I just ran outside to check for you. I don't have that bolt. Whatever it attaches, it hasn't been on since I bought the car. On the upside, I'm running a 10-8-10 pattern without whatever goes there. Previous owner must have taken it to the stealership for service. So all in all, don't sweat it if you don't have anything to hook up to that one. Anyone else?

Thanks for your help! :bigthumb:

I think that may be for the dipstick on an auto tranny car. I haven't worked on many autos, and I know my 5-speed UIM doesn't have that.

On the grounds, the one that clips to the firewall should go to the rear engine hanger like you have it. The other one should go around the rear stud that holds the UIM to the LIM. It's fine there, but with it there you have to unbolt the engine hanger to remove the UIM.

Here's my guide to removing the upper intake manifold if you haven't seen it -

Actually Dale, I'm very aware of your site :D It not only helped me remove my UIM, but replace the pillowball bushings as well. Also, I had to order the McMaster Carr check valves since you wree out of the viton ones last week.

Keep up the good work - your site is awesome. :patriot:

Is that chromed, or just polished?
(Wow.)

Svelte_7 Apr 2, 2006 01:25 PM

Wow - now that's a trick setup. Is that for a single turbo setup?

Yes single (the cowards way out), I really like this location because it kinda fits in with the look and doesn’t really stick out like its not supposed to be there.

most people hardly notice it.

That bolt is where the auto dip stick attaches. Pull out the bolt and forget it or cut it off next time the intake is off
