So im in the process of pulling my motor and almost done till i realized im missing the mount where you hook up the engine next to the alternator. I knew I was missing the one behind my uim since my last motor was built but figured I get to that when I'm ready to pull it and didn't notice I was missing the other.. so is there something else I can use or will u have to buy 2 mounts for them?

 

wrap a cloth around a chain, fish the chain under the UIM, it will work fine

 

Use bolts in the hook bolt holes. Just feed them through the eyelet of the chain.

 

Thanks. I thought I'd something similar but didn't know if that would be good to do. Or damage something?

Also though of that and was just envisioning the motor being held up and then dropped lol but not like there would be slack on the chain for that to happen . So yea prob gonna do this for the front then. But need to get me the one hooks for ease of pulling it for next time.

That's pretty risky... Pulling the motor usually involves a decent amount MORE force than dropping it back in. I don't think I'd want to put that kind of stress on the small bolts holding the UIM on..

^ MUCH better option. You can just thread bolts in the empty holes and run the chain that way.

 

I kinda had the same problem when I pulled out my engine and tranny. Luckily for me I had the rear engine hoist hook, I placed one chain on the rear hook and the second I placed a bolt through the AC pump metal bracket. This worked very well for me!

One thing to consider is placement of the engine hoist points, you really want to have a good balance, choose sides vertical of each other for engine balancing and to lower the chance of block stress.

 

This is how I've pulled motors that didn't have hooks. Best option here. Always works in the piston world.

+1 just use a bolt or two somewhere and yank it out, its a teeny little engine.
