ok guys, i did the seq/non-seq switch and i realised that when i switch to non-seq, my car gets a lot louder.

anybody know why thi is happening?

has anyone found that there non-seq setup was louder than there seq?

ive heard that before from almost every person who did the conversion... just wondering, did you do the "electronic" non seq mod that was posted recently, or the normal mechanical conversion a la dontbearikki? how did it turn out?

i did the electronic one and it works great but there is a lot of lag. i guess this is how non-seq is suppose to feel.

Yeah non-sequential is alot louder then seq. for some reason. When cruising I can't hear a word my g/f is saying, that can be good and bad. I have no idea why it is louder though unless moving all that air at the same time makes it louder?

The reason non sequential is so much louder is that the turbo control actuator door is always open. Normally it wouldn't open until 4,500 rpms. With it open the exhaust is much less restricted and gets louder. With it closed the exhaust has to pass through the primary turbo because the TCA door is blocking the passage to the secondary.

yes you are right....and yes the conversion is louder. noticeably louder....don't fret though. you'll be amazed at the pull when you get @ 4K RPM/////

does anyone know if the "electronic" non sequential switch and the mechanical "vacuum" method yield the same results performancewise (boost, lag, etc.)? and can someone please post a link to the electronic non seq writeup again. thanks.

here is the link.

as far as electronic and vaccum goes, i would say it is the same, unless you do the complete non-seq, meaning removing the turbo control door as well as the charge control and the rat's nest.

maybe that removing all the vaccum hose helps with the lag since all the boost goes in the engine, not in the vaccum hoses.

but just doing the quick non-seq setup without removing the rat's nest and other actuators will not, IMO, change the lag from the electronic version.

thanks puma.

when you have the switch in "sequential" position, does it boost exactly the same as before you put in the switch? do you like how it runs in non sequential mode?
