Yes, the Kaaz is a stout unit, if you want to monitor how tweaked your axles are getting if you drag, take a straight edge to each axle and just place it lengthwise from cv boot to cv boot and spray a white line on each. Then you can see how much each axle is twisting and monitor it that way, that's what I have done and I launch pretty hard at the strip (about 7500rpm and 6psi) with MT ET Streets. I have 1.72 60' and have about 15 launches on the axles with some twisting. I will order new axles when there is about 2/3 inch of twisting from cv boot to cv boot on the axles.( I'll probably break them before that tho :D ) And a little secret to quieting down the KAAZ clunking is to add a 4 OZ. bottle of GM LSD additive, which can be had at any gm dealership and it's on the shelf. It was about 9 bucks but stopped about 75% of the harsh clunking and chattering(wife was bitching about the clunking, I can't help the loud exhaust:p: , can I.) LOL.

I have been using a Torsen diff from guru for sometime, and the acc difference is huge compared with a standard LSD ! Im in Australia.

Ari snapped axels because they changed rubber in the street class this past year. The year before he didn't have those problems.

If you are running a 'circuit' car on on the road you will also see a big improvment out of the corners. We use them here in OZ in the class of circuit racing I do ' it is called 'Improved Production'.

Is the Guru torsen for drag also? Does it chatter and clunk like the kaaz?

Yes it is, several drag guys run them here and I know they have just shipped some to some dudes in texas.
I do not believe it does 'clunk' or 'chatter' as you say, they have made it real smooth and progressive.

Guru diff sounds like a VERY NICE unit. Has the strength of the kaaz and the noise level of the stock unit. It just got added to my mod list. Heheh

Does anyone know the bias ratio for the stock torsen and the Guru? The bias ratio is how much torque the wheel with the traction gets relative to the one slipping...

Yea, I've heard if the Kaaz is broken in properly it should be fairly quite and smooth.

Seems like I heard the break in proceedure is to drive a figure 8 for 30 minutes....at what speed or tightness I have no idea.

Anyone know for sure?

I feel like I'm going to need one soon.

The unit comes with instructions on how to do the break-in period, doing the figure 8's in a parking lot for 30 minutes(hint, bring a friend to talk to, this get's boring!!!) which I did to the "T" and mine is still quite chattery when turning at slow speeds. Straight line acceleration is perfectly smooth, just turning feels like your driving over marbles. I change the fluid every 3 to 4K miles but still doesn't help much with the chatter, this is caused by the clutches inside the diff engaging and grabbing, it's just a mechanism that you'll have to deal with. I road race my car regularly and don't have any problems with the diff, since it is actually designed for road racing more than dragging. You can quiet it down some by adding 4oz of GM diff additive as I previously posted and will help SOME! Just the nature of the beast, but with your new dyno sheets and HP Stephen, you'll need one soon. The stock diff will hold up to some hard launches but those little teeth on the spider gears won't hold up under 416hp launches for long!:D
