Just swapped harness... not starting right up... ? HELP!
Well just did the main wiring harness and its cranking but only kicked on once... ran like it was bogging down. I have an extra connector on the harness right behind the alternator... its not on my other harness...? Anyone have any ideas on this? I'm pretty confident I had everything hooked up correctly. I'm even on a single so I don't need half the crap thats in there... just injectors... C/A sensor, some emmissions junk on the UIM, the two connectors on the side of the motor, water stuff, tranny connectors, 02 sensor, that one connector next to the P/S pump... that should be it for that harness. I noticed that the connectors by the ECU... one of the ones that connected to the blue connector down there has now been switched to a white male connector instead of the blue one? sound right?
THANKS FOR ANY HELP!!! Ryker |

Two emmissions harness connectors... http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...8/faa67fe8.jpg New white harness in place of blue one... (Male) Also small connector (White) any ideas? http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...e/faa6801f.jpg I heard that this black one has to do w/ the fans.... http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...d/faa680ad.jpg I think the blue one had to do w/ CA emmissions... also I have a couple of solenoid connectors left.. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...1/faa680f8.jpg What is the one on the right for... its strapped down to the harness... I'm stumped on this one...! |
Also... Fuel area on the PFC sensor check is sitting at 4.98 Volts... what could cause this... b/c its highlighted!
Thanks, Ryker |

is the connector behind the alternator for the purge solenoid? thats my guess
and also, check to see that you didn't switch the 2 green connectors. One is the fuel thermosensor and the other is the coolant temp sensor. They are both green and fit and can be switched. -Snook |
Tried it... still not starting... damnit
P.S. Thanks for the idea... The harness behind the alternator where that connector is... its not the PC solinoid connection... its something else... |
Ok well I yanked my UIM looking for some wire thats not where it needs to be.
Here is an extra black connector by the ECU... http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...d/faa52d62.jpg Harness thats switched colors... http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...d/faa52d86.jpg Extra Black and White connectors... http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...c/faa52daf.jpg Here are the extras where some solenoids used to be... The green one is supposed to be disconnected. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...7/faa52def.jpg Thanks, Ryker |
WooHoo! Got it running.. damn thing was REALLY FLOODED... still running hard though...MY FPR is reading 0psi... and my coolant buzzer is still going off. I checked my wiring for it and it still looks good. which is the other one on the side of the motor?
|
Is this a brand new harness, cause i don't recall most of them colors being on mineI just wired mine yesterday. Are they changing colors on newer harnesses?
You didn't swap from a AT to a MT did you? |
nope... just regular old replacement... do you have the part # for the harness for a touring manual harness...? off hand.. I'd like to make sure everything is cool. I'm trying to hunt down that buzzer now :D
|
man I could swear you have the wrong green conncetor on the coolant level sensor thats why the buzzer wont stop going off.
you should run a line directly from your fpr to the nipple on the lim facing the firewall (dashside) you want to have the fpr hooked up right or you will know it :D |
There is also a small connector that just BARELY sticks out of a harness over on the drivers side of the engine. It behind the ps pump. When people do engine swaps 75% of them miss this plug and it causes thier buzzer to never turn off.
I wish I should tell you better where it is but its hard to describe. Its also a small conncector. STEPHEN |
SPO that was the plug causing me the trouble... the male part of the connector was loose inside the clip... so I had to de- and re attach it w/ a different clip... used the one that usually goes to the low coolant sensor on the front of the water housing (I'm on a 1-2 gen one w/ a different connector.
Thanks everyone! |
